It is by sparkle alone I set my mind in motion. It is by the powder of mica that the skin acquires shimmer, the lids acquire color, the color becomes a warning....I AM IN CONTROL OF MY ADDICTION!!!

Always…never…check your references. (Or in this case, your list of colors and your basic arithmetic.) In the course of adding one more color today and doublechecking my list of colors, I found three face colors included in the overall count and found four colors that had never been listed. Then I decided to add up the totals…and came up with not 917, but first 898. Then 905. Then 905 (again). Then 905 a third time. So, yeah - 905 colors being used in the challenge.

Unless, you know, I do a recount later and find that I screwed up my arithmetic *again*.

Would it change my mind? Integrity and business ethics

This is a followup to another entry on my site, and a part of the indie-MMU repackaging kerfuffle.

Another web site is running another piece on Lime Crime, one of the makeup companies that consumers have recently cited as having several colors that are so very reminiscent of colored micas available from wholesalers (as in, when swatched side by side people can't tell the difference.) After a few of us stated, in the comments, what we found so particularly disagreeable about Lime Crime's behavior in this incident (seeming integrity, lack thereof), the person who wrote this follow-up interview asked us a hypothetical question:

"So let’s say for the sake of argument, Doe Deere says you know what you guys, I may have exaggerated when first marketing my product and for that I apologize from the bottom of my heart. What then? Would that change anyone’s mind?"*

Sparklecrack Central’s “Sample Size Secret Santa”

Secret Santa programs are all the rage throughout various online communities. They’re cool, right? Yeah…except that this year, LOTS of people have been hard-hit by the economy. It’s been ugly. Even with the nice low price-points that I’ve seen on a few communities, folks might still feel a bit constricted or pressured. So I’m going to suggest another alternative. It involves cards, samples, and stories…and you can participate as many times as you wish. It costs little more than the price of postage for a Christmas card. And you get to be The Storyteller, sharing why you love the colors you do.
