BareMinerals’ Satin Plum

BareMinerals’ Satin Plum

Thursday at 10:15 AM: A softer purple - not quite “bleached” or “sunfaded”, just…softened. This works as a wash of color, and it blends out very nicely. They color payoff is nice and solid - no fading, or problems with semitransparency. (And yet it was the velvet-finish shadows that BE added to their line and made available for individual purchase. Not the satins.)

Mattese Elite’s Navy

Mattese Elite’s Navy

Thursday at 7:15 AM: This is the brightest of the “Navy” named eyeshadows that I own. I’m sure part of that is due to the sparkle finish; but BE’s French Navy is a deeper, almost blackened blue. BFTE’s Navy is a deeper blue that leans just a tiny bit teal-ish. And then there’s this shade, which is close to a midnight-blue.

Color Club’s Rule Breaker

Color Club’s Rule Breaker

Wednesday at 10:15 AM: A really gorgeous, very saturated shade - almost a “scarab-beetle green.” The finish picks up a faint hint of the brushstrokes, but I think that’s just something endemic to these metallic-frost finish polishes. The coverage is great, the formula covers well without being too thick. I did get some residual polish on the cuticles that was a bit harder to remove, and that usually happens with darker polishes but especially darker reds.

CND’s Vinylux Tartan Punk (196)

CND’s Vinylux Tartan Punk (196)

Wednesday at 7:15 AM: This polish has the brightest shine I’ve seen on any of the Vinylux cremes. It’s a brighter red, almost a “candied” red but not quite that bright. You can see that I slopped a bit…

Shiro Cosmetics’ Flash Ignite collection

Shiro Cosmetics’ Flash Ignite collection

Tuesday at 10:15 AM: The latest collection from Shiro, full of brighter colors (though there are a few softer shades.) I ended up liking more of these colors than I thought I would…so once I’d swatched most of the…

BareMinerals’ Perfect Black Bag kit

BareMinerals’ Perfect Black Bag kit

Tuesday at 7:15 AM: This isn’t the first “grand” kit released through the QVC/BE partnership. That would probably have to go to either the 2000 or 2001 Grand kits. I haven’t been able to find price or cost info…

BareMinerals’ Willow Matte

BareMinerals’ Willow Matte

Monday at 10:15 AM: This is supposed to be a matte. So what’s it doing with a very visible pearl-ish finish in both wet and dry application? It’s a pretty enough color, but I wish that it didn’t pearl…

Silk Naturals’ Clutch

Silk Naturals’ Clutch

Monday at 7:15 AM: Near metallic finish with a base color that leans red-brown or red-purple, depending on - I suppose - lighting, surrounding colors, and planetary alignment. It’s a good “raisin-red” shade with decent coverage. The adhesion isn’t…

BareMinerals’ First Class kit

BareMinerals’ First Class kit

Sunday at 10:15 AM: Another “cheek and eye” kit from QVC. I’m going to guess that this one was USD$32 or thereabouts, like the other similar kits. Real Deal and Exquisite are not a pairing I would normally put…

BareMinerals’ Leslie’s Secrets kit

BareMinerals’ Leslie’s Secrets kit

Sunday at 7:15 AM: Neutrals and softer items…not a thrilling kit, but everything is a good, solid, versatile piece. (Except maybe the gloss, and that’s because I am SO not a gloss fan. It’s the texture.) YCNBTR is a…
