This morning on Twitter, Sarah of Glossicious asked: “Monthly favorites video or Eid look tutorial ? help me decide”. I told her I’d do a monthly favorites post if she would. I didn’t register the “video” portion of the request…er. Bad week, the brain’s still about half a lap behind. But - on to the favorites post!

In no particular order, this past August I used a lot of, and really loved:

  • Olay Regenerist serum. I use the regular serum even around my eyes - it's almost exactly the same as the eye serum, but the eye serum has more concentrated ingredients so you pay twice as much. Through a combination of factors, including luck of the genetic draw, I don't have deep wrinkles around my eyes...so I don't need to use a superconcentrated anything. I just apply this stuff twice a day, and I'm good to go. I bought mine at my local warehouse store, so that I got a larger quantity and effectively paid less per ml. Don't do this if you only use it sporadically, though - it will lose its effectiveness before you get through the bottle. Buy a regular-size bottle, use it, see if you use it daily and if it works for you. If so, then go ahead and get the bulk-size.
  • Rite Aid generic make-up remover wipes. Not glamorous, but less costly than Neutrogena (which I've used, and which worked just fine; but the cost!!) I often have to use liquid make-up remover to get all my mascara off, but these remover wipes work great for foundation, blush, eyeshadows, and all the rest.
  • Aromaleigh Eye Luster in Angelique. I know, I know...the product (the entire line, actually) is now discontinued. I stocked wa-a-ay up, believe me. I've got enough of this color, and of The SheSpace's Define Beauty (for which Angelique is a perfect match), to last me for quite a while. They're the absolute perfect beige-pink shimmer, they make an amazing not-quite-neutral, works really really well with my coloration.
  • Bare Escentuals Buxom Betsy. This is a full-color buxom, not a sheer. It's got just the barest hint of shimmer. If you love buxom Trixie but have shied away from the full-color buxoms because they're too pigmented for your tastes...give Betsy a try. She's the full-color equivalent of Trixie.
  • Suave Professionals shampoo and conditioner in Almond and Shea Butter. Works nearly as well as John Frieda's Root Awakening, costs a LOT less. I've been using the same bottles for about a month and a half now (daily use - I've got fine hair and if I don't wash it daily it looks kind of pathetic) and while this isn't quite as moisturizing as JF, it's very, very close. Using those two in alternation - or using JF once a week and SP the other six days - keeps my costs down, keeps buildup from forming, and makes my hair look great.
  • Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch SPF 70 sunscreen. I use this daily, except when it's pouring rain out...and since we've actually had something resembling a summer this past month, I've worn it pretty regularly. It protects against UVA and UVB rays, and I've used Neutrogena since the mid-90s.

That's it for me! I've taken a bit of a break from my eyeshadow challenge. I have spurts of energy and activity, but this past month has done a fairly good job of sucking the life out of me...so while I do feel a bit badly that I've only done about four EoTDs in the last three weeks and haven't posted any of them, I don't feel quite that bad.

And I have my plane tickets to DragonCon 2011 3/4 paid for, so there's a good thing!
