China Glaze’s FYI Hologram Polish

Yesterday we had sun for, oh, 15 minutes…and I ran outside and got a shot of the polish that’s been on my nails since Tuesday.

On Monday I received my final "birthday" order, a package of nail polishes. The first one I tried was China Glaze's FYI - a neutral-ish looking color with holographic effects. (Neutral-ish because I have a meeting next week that would probably go better if I were not wearing blue duochromatic polish...and I really wanted to try and let the polish last a while.) I was able to capture the holographic effects, despite a) being not the world's best photographer and b) having one coat of topcoat atop the polish. I used three coats of FYI and one coat of Nubar's Diamont topcoat.

From top left, you can see the predominant green, red-orange, and then (at bottom) the taupe-gold base color.

I really like how the polishes apply, and how they dry fairly quickly. I've previously used Sally Hansen holos and had to really lay the polish on a bit thick, or use four coats, to get good coverage and holographic effects.

Wow!!! This is really pretty!!! I must see if they have it at my Cosmo Prof…I love neutral-ish nail colors and I normally layer loose glitter on top, so this would be much quicker and easier!

It’s surprisingly pretty! I thought it might be more goldtone, but it’s very nice.

China Glaze also has something called “Wireless holographic topcoat” that apparently adds holo shimmer to colors - and I was looking for a topcoat for this, because I always use topcoats (lots of keyboarding = lots of chances for chipped nails). Nubar’s Diamont topcoat did a fairly good job of protecting without dimming the holo effects too much.

If you can’t find it locally, check TransDesign or 8ty8beauty. They will have this color, and many of the other ChG holo colors, in stock for a little while longer yet. The prices are fairly good, too - under $4 a bottle.

I really really like the look of that! I’ve been looking for a great neutral that isn’t like…flesh colored. I really like the multi-tonal effect of that!

It’s a gorgeous color! It’s getting harder to find, though…check TransDesign (transdesign.com) and buy a bottle before it’s completely out of stock. (8ty8beauty ran out of OMG right after I ordered my bottle…and OMG is part of the same collection as FYI. Transdesign is already out of a few of the colors from this collection - which makes sense, since it was released in {I believe} spring 2008.)
