"Change is very musical, but sometimes you must listen for a long time before you hear the pattern in his music."
Part of the One Year Eyecolor Challenge (new colors used: 4)
Eyes
- Pure Luxe's Uptown, applied wet into outer crease - contouring
- Aromaleigh's Zinnia, dry lash to brow and inner vee - base color/highlight
- Bare Escentuals' Beautiful Melodie, inner lid - shading
- Sephora's Flashy Green liner pencil, outer 3/4 of upper lash line - definition
- Pure Luxe's Oasis, wetlined over liner pencil - color/definition
- Sephora's Flashy Pink liner pencil, waterline - brightening
- Bare Escentuals' Flawless Definition mascara, upper and lower lashes - definition
I wasn't sure how the duochrome Oasis would look as a liner; but I like the effect. Wetlined, it initially had a metallic appearance that gradually - but not totally - softened as the line dried; and putting it over the dark green liner pencil gave the color some depth.
I'm not sure I like the combination of Uptown with Zinnia. I was going for a not-quite-complimentary scheme, and used Zinnia instead of a straight peach to throw some more "change"able color into the mix; but Uptown is a cool, smoked blue-green while Zinnia is a peach-pink with a cool duochrome. I think that might have worked better with either a warn duochrome over-color, or no duochrome in the base color at all.
I do like Beautiful Melodie on the inner 1/3 of the lid. It gives a nice contour, it's a rich autumnal orange, and it goes well with my eyes. (Bare Escentuals classifies Beautiful Melodie as a "red", but I think that it's more a warm burnt orange than an orange-red.)
