BBAC 2013, Day 6: Urban Decay’s 24-7 Glide On Pencil Vault

I've spoken about these pencils before: how well they work, how much I like them, how I'd get more if not for the individual-pencil price point. In 2012, as part of the change in the line (old colors out, new colors in) Urban Decay released the Pencil Vault: USD$295 for all forty full-size 24-7 Glide-On Eyeliner Pencils. I treated myself, because a) I didn't have too many of these pencils so I'd be getting more than 30 new-to-me shades; and b) at that collection-price, each full-size pencil was USD$7.37 - that's just 38% of the retail price for a single full-size pencil. You can't buy a single waterproof liner pencil from Sephora for that price - and those Flashy Liner pencils are the closest I've found to the Urban Decay 24-7 Glide-On pencils.

I got the box and left it - and all the pencils - sitting on the dining room table for about two months. The pencils were arranged chromatically, and they were just to pretty to disrupt! But, sooner or later…one has to move on and actually start USING the things. I photographed all the pencils still in the box, took several closeups, and then pulled all the pencils out and put them away. Then I got rid of the box itself. Yes, it was a lot of money. But I don't regret spending it. It was a “last hurrah” big makeup treat for myself. I've used over half of the pencils at least once, and while there are some colors that I'm less enamored of, all of the pencils have the same ease of application and great staying power.

I have eyeliner pencils from several companies. I also have several liquid, cream, and gel eyeliners. They've all got their own pros and cons. I love the easy control I have with pencils - and these are soft enough that I can get a straight line with no skips and no tugging. (The Custom Trio retractable eyeliner pencils from Physician's Formula, as cool as they are, are less easy to apply.)
