I'd say that this color is what MAC's For Effect wanted to be, but I think it's more accurate to say that this color is what I wanted MAC's For Effect to be. It's an opaque dark charcoal grey with silver sparkles. It's definitely opaque enough to be an eyeliner. (Try that with For Effect - it applies so sheerly, you barely get any definition.) This is a sparkle / frost finish, and when applied too sparingly or too thick, the application can be a bit patchy. One literally has to find that exact middle ground where you'll get good opacity and even application. The MAC paint pots share this similarity - the frost finishes are the most error-prone, in terms of patchy application. I don't know why that is - maybe it's got something to do with whatever ingredient adds the “frost” finish - but that seems to be the case with the Color Tattoos that I own, as well.
