I first grabbed this about six months after they were first released, when there was a major sale on. The coral-and-gold Unicorn Dreams caught my eye, but the other one also looked very interesting. I loved the appearance of the product, and hoped to get a softer gold highlighter with some warm undertones.
The product is pretty firm, so I’m not able to apply this directly to my face and blend it out because it will pick up and disarrange my blush. I’ve seen tips here and there that people should never apply stick products directly to their face to avoid pulling and tugging on the skin, largely because the skin on your face is more fragile than, say, the skin on the back of your hands or the underside of your forearm. (That’s what I’ve had to do, and…that’s a tiny bit frustrating.)
The glittery unicorn on the tube is a gelly-sticker that isn’t all that firmly in place. The legs and the horn are especially prone to wear and coming off. There seems to be a goodly amount of product in the tube, and even when I dialed mine all the way out, it didn’t feel like it was going to topple out of the tube. I personally would have been fine if the metallic tubes had no decoration, or maybe only a unicorn head on the top of the tube, or a unicorn on the tube but using a less amateurish-looking, damage-prone method. (The glitter was also a bit much.)
I use this as a cheek and a brow highlighter, and sometimes as an inner-vee highlighter. If I have to use a brush to apply the product, I’m using it in as many ways and places as it works for me.
