Morgana Cryptoria’s 2009 Halloween Treats collection

Morgana Cryptoria’s 2009 Halloween Treats collection

I decided to buy some of these colors fairly late after their initial release. Most of the colors were gone, but there were about five that were still available for purchase. As of February 2011, very few of these colors are still available - the few that are, are only available in sample size.

Zoya’s Calypso

Zoya’s Calypso

Two coats is semisheer, and more of a coral-pink pearl. Four coats gave me a completely opaque coral. The formula was good, about on par for non-duochromes in Zoya's inventory. The other five polishes that were part of the Sirens collection - Aria, Alluria, Melodie, Sirena, and Venus - are either colors that didn't pique my interest, or colors that I have enough of (nudes and pinks). As of February 2011, the only color that's been discontinued is Alluria.

China Glaze’s Pelican Gray

A very nice pale grey-white creme with a high-shine finish. This isn't quite like any of the other colors I have from any other vendor, but it's close to Zoya's Dove.

Morgana Cryptoria’s Shallow Grave

Morgana Cryptoria’s Shallow Grave

The manufacturer-described green sheen isn't very visible in this color. (This might also be because I got some of the very last of this product, when I purchased it in February 2011.) The pewter-grey isn't metallic, so this works very well as a softer-than-full-black liner shade. I was also able to apply this much more lightly, and get a hint of a shadowing in the inner vee. Just put less product on the brush, et voila - you get a nice,...

  • What’s on your tips? OPI's DS Opulence, but I have plans to paint my nails with Orly's Space Cadet later today.
  • What skincare products are you currently using? Cleanser: Clarisonic. My face is doing the 'initial purge' thing, which is one of the reasons I haven't been posting EoTDs. When people say "I wish my skin looked like it did when I was 15!" I think they've selectively forgotten all the acne. Daytime and Nighttime Moisturizer: Olay...

This one's right on the border between aqua and green. The photos at the manufacturer's blog make it look aqua-blue, but when I swatched it both dry and wet, it looked just slightly greener. Which is one of the wonderful and irritating things about turquoise: it just takes a change in lighting, angle, or surrounding colors to shift some of those green-blues over to blue-green.

    Revlon’s Colorburst Lipstick collection

I initially got interested in these from GlitterGeek’s love for Soft Rose. I checked out the line at my local store, and got a few lipsticks…then later, when they were on sale, a few more. The line added some more colors in late fall 2010. The lipsticks are very creamy, and apply lightly with one stroke. You can build coverage, but generally I find that one stroke lays down enough product for my preferences - though with the lighter...

    BareMinerals’ Rethink Beauty kit

The first of three autodelivery kits from Bare Escentuals. Usually their A/D series have four kits, and span an entire year. This was an exception. I got this kit at a discounted price, and on easy pay - I intended to give the Prime Time primers to my mom, who adores them. This kit can be a good value if you don’t have much BE, if you like and use the primers, or if you know of a...

This is kind of the color I'd hoped Beachy Keen would be. This formula seems a bit thinner than other China Glaze polishes that I've used. Still, it's nicely opaque and provides good coverage. One coat was almost - almost - enough for full, even, totally opaque coverage. There was just a hint of visible nail line when the nail was backlit. Spreadability was good - possibly due to the consistency. I suspect that if I used this for a...
