Kiko Cosmetics’ Long Lasting Stick Shadow in Emerald Green (10)

Kiko Cosmetics’ Long Lasting Stick Shadow in Emerald Green (10)

Posted on Saturday, at

For a winter makeup exchange, I asked for some Kiko (and some Sleek, and some MUR…basically, lots of ‘I'd-heard-good-things' European drugstore makeup.) My exchange partner got me two Kiko Stick Shadows, including this amazing shade. This is exactly the kind of shade I would gravitate toward, with that rich jeweltone!

Applies very easily and stays in place. I use them more often as a waterline color, than a liner shade. It's fairly neutral, it's a little darker than my skintone but not strikingly so, it makes a good visual equalizer when I don't want to wear white or a bright shade on my waterline. I alternate this, with the Nude shade - similar neutral tone, but brighter.

Sheer, almost-invisible white with a turquoise duochrome effects layer. I can almost add a duotone layer to my blushes using this - though it does soften the blush color and cool it down a little. It's an interesting alternative to a “soft focus” layer using plain mineral powder.

Not as strong a purple as people may be concerned about...but definitely is a cooler shade. It pairs nicely with Acapulco, which is another color that isn't as vivid a -=purple=- as I had originally feared. I ended up loving Acapulco, so it's not such a surprise that I also fell in love with Jennifer!

Shiro Cosmetics’ Beta

Shiro Cosmetics’ Beta

Other companies have done blue-green sparkle shadows that I prefer - heck, one of them's even by Shiro, Lingered in Twilight - but this is an attractive enough shade. The green brightens a bit when applied. It isn't quite as deep as it appears in the pot. The dry application lost a little bit of heft, though.

Slightly…muted? Not really dusty, not heathered. but not as bright a green as this could be (which, in my opinion, makes it a bit more versatile.) The color payoff is solid and even. The color can be blended easily, but doesn't fade fast.

My love affair with Zoya ended when their price-per-bottle jumped up to USD$9. For a polish that's not really much more durable than other polishes, and doesn't have breathtakingly unique colors or finishes, $9 per bottle is my “stop” point. This one, though…I had to get this one. Partially because it's somewhat attractive, but more because it's my name.

BareMinerals’ The Bare and The Beautiful kit

BareMinerals’ The Bare and The Beautiful kit

The color-pieces in this kit are a duplicate of the Naturally Gifted collection (minus the lipstick.) For people who had an aversion to blue eyeshadow, this kit didn’t hold any interest! The two blues applied fairly soft, though. They were minimally buildable, not enough color depth in either of them for easy use as a contouring color. The blush was one of my “staples” from BE’s lineup - not a favorite, but a good everyday color.
