I can’t tell if this is a strong green over a black base, or a strong green over a really dark green base. I don’t get a lot of the sooty leave-behind that some blackened shades can put down, so to me that’s a definite plus. The color applies a little less intense than I’d like, but it’s buildable.

There’s a pretty strong, solid interference layer on this color. The color looks more like a blue-based gold, than a blue with a gold shift. The gold can be lightened by blending or buffing the color once its dried (and before you set it with fixative or finishing spray) but that will soften the base blue color a bit. If you want a light blue…get another color! But if you’re happy to have a solid-coverage light blue...

The formula on this was good, but the coverage was a bit uneven. I might have been able to even it out with a third coat, but since the second coat deepened the red, I didn’t want to get a nearly dark-brown red with the third coat.

The partner-collection to NYX’s Faux Whites eyeliner pencils. These aren’t necessarily blackened colored liners, or even colors with a black base (like the Faux Whites were all varying tints of white), but they are all deeper shades, and are all pretty saturated. They all apply fairly well, and are varying degrees of smudgeable, but they cure into a liner color that stays in place and doesn’t fade away for the better part of a full day.

Yes, this is a blackened brown base…but it looks like a purple-brown because of the really strong blue interference layer. It makes a fantastic liner shade. The color is -=extremely=- pigmented, so you only need a little bit. It is blendable, but - again - only use a little bit for the base application, and use a clean brush for blending.

I have other similar shades, but this is the brightest of the metallic red shadows in my collection. Burnout is a bit more burgundy, and Royal is a bit deeper as well. The finish is a softened metallic, so there’s the smoother color without the occasional sharper, more reflective metallic-finish features.

This is one of the “Matte X” shades introduced in 2016. The improved finish means that it doesn’t emphasize any dryness like the previous matte formula (and so many other matte formulas) did.
