Meow Cosmetics’ Prism collection

Meow Cosmetics’ Prism collection

Posted on Tuesday, at

A curated collection of Meow’s eyeshadows from across eight of their seasonal collections. When this originally came out, I had hopes that it might be first in a series or something: seasonal curated collections from all across their lineup, letting people see other combinations and then buy them if they chose. It’s been a few years (I honestly forget how long) since this collection was first released, and there haven’t been any followups. I guess I’ll...

Meow Cosmetics’ Grandiose

Meow Cosmetics’ Grandiose

Posted on Monday, at

This color immediately caught my attention when I first saw the collection’s page. This and Charm (from Mythos) are very similar, but Grandiose is both deeper and cooler. This is a little better than the Cat Eyes mattes, which tend to not want to stay in place when applied dry. This stays on a little better, but still benefits from either being applied wet or from being lightly misted with either a fixative or a setting spray to keep...

Eyeshadow for September 8 2018

Eyeshadow for September 8 2018

I used this opportunity to test out Jordana’s new eye primer, Made to Last. For the shadows themselves, I used Sleek’s Arabian Nights palette, as part of my Shop Your Stash challenge. I applied Aladdin’s Lamp to the inner lid/inner vee and put Valley of Diamonds (smoky violet with scattered gold shimmer) on the outer crease, and blended those two shades inward toward the middle. Then I added a little bit of Golden Souk in the...

Review: Sigil Inspired (by Tammy Tanuka)

Review: Sigil Inspired (by Tammy Tanuka)

I haven’t done one of these in a while because I haven’t tried new companies in a while. When these first caught my eye, I researched them online and found people saying that they suspected the eyeshadows of being unblended micas, and that they were distinctly uneasy at not seeing a comprehensive ingredient list, especially for the multichromes. I’ve purchased MANY micas and oxides from TKB Trading and wear them regularly, so while I could spot some ...

Dawn Eyes Cosmetics’ Linger

Dawn Eyes Cosmetics’ Linger

Posted on Thursday, at

This is a fairly soft shade with very mild interference effects. While it isn’t semisheer, I think it will work best on some sort of cream base that’s either close to your own skintone, or black/white (to intensify the color.)

Color Club’s Special Delivery

Color Club’s Special Delivery

The color is a near-nude on my fingers - it’s a bit darker than my natural nail beds, but not too much darker. The formula is a little streaky and uneven, and of course it had the rose scent that lingered for about two days. I might use this and the other Rose Remedy polishes for freehand nail art. I like the color, and the streakiness could enhance the freehand-art effects instead of detracting from the manicure.

Real Techniques’ Get Gorgeous kit

Real Techniques’ Get Gorgeous kit

Posted on Tuesday, at

One day I was travelling overnight for work, and realized that I’d left several things at home - including all of my makeup brushes. I headed to the store to pick up what I needed, and…well, I was kind of forced to buy this set of Real Techniques brushes because they were the only brush set that was both not mini brushes, and on sale. What a burden it was. But I bore it stoically.

Sleek Makeup’s Midas Touch highlighter palette

Sleek Makeup’s Midas Touch highlighter palette

I bought this and the Solstice palette at the same time, but this one is my favorite. Part of it is because the colors are cooler, and so they look better on me. But part of it is because these colors seemed a little more pigmented than the ones in the Solstice palette. I actually use these as a highlighter-eyeshadow palette. I can’t think of a way that I could use the blue highlighter (Tanzanite) on my face, nor...

Dawn Eyes Cosmetics’ Love’s Eternity

Dawn Eyes Cosmetics’ Love’s Eternity

I bought this shade because it was supposed to have some softer multichrome effects. It does have multichrome effects…but they’re extremely subtle under normal lighting. Knowing what I know now, it isn’t a color that I’d necessarily buy again. It’s decent quality; but it’s among the more expensive indie eyeshadows I own.
