Zoya’s Mirajane

Zoya’s Mirajane

This is the only color I bought out of the UltraBright Neons collection. It’s the only color I want to buy from that collection. It’s described as “neon navy,” and it’s definitely a deeper shade. It leans a bit blue-violet. When I wear it over black or brown, I get the slightly deeper blue-violet. Wearing it over white, I get a brighter shade that leans a little more toward blue. This color is a jelly/semisheer, so...

I didn’t know if I would like the colors in this collection, so I left them sit. I do like this and Amira - both slightly pastel, but faded and muted rather than only “lightened”.

Makeup Revolution’s Camoflage and Ultra Base Corrector Palettes

Makeup Revolution’s Camoflage and Ultra Base Corrector Palettes

Posted on Tuesday, at

Two color corrector palettes, each containing the same eight shades: pink, lavender, green, putty-yellow, peach, white, cream, and orange-brown. (Yes, I take exception with some of their shade-names.) They look identical. So why the price difference? The packaging is certainly different. The ingredients also differ. And, overall, the colors in the Ultra Base (dark packaging) appear to have a slightly brighter base, which could cause the color corrected areas to look ashy on deeper fair-to-medium skintones. The brush head is nicely dense without being rigid, so it lays down a good amount of product. I feel like the angle of the brush helps with application: most of the blush concentrated on my cheekbones; a tiny bit above them; and more below, but softer.

Jordana’s Twist n Shine Balmstain in Fresh Fig (10)

Jordana’s Twist n Shine Balmstain in Fresh Fig (10)

When I first saw this on Jordana’s website, I thought that it would be a color-dupe for Buxom Brooklyn - it might have some brown undertones to it, I thought. This is great! Sadly…it’s definitely more of a medium-deep red. The shade match isn’t quite what I had hoped for. It’s still the same low-cost lip stain formula as the other balmstains in Jordana’s collection. It’s just not the shade match I thought...

elf’s Cut Crease Eye Brush collection

elf’s Cut Crease Eye Brush collection

Posted on Tuesday, at

A good assortment of eyeshadow brushes - from softer blending to firmer all-over application to fine-detail. The brushes are part of what was formerly known as the “Studio” line of brushes. They all have black handles and black bristles, and while most were always synthetic bristles they’re ALL synthetic as of August 2016. I’ve said before that I’m less than fond of many of elf’s older-style face brushes, but their eye brushes have long been my go-to...
