Shiro Cosmetics’ Sunshower

Shiro Cosmetics’ Sunshower

Third in the “solar-phenomenon” set of Colors of the Month. I am least fond of this color, because seafoam is a pretty shade but not on my eyelids. This can sheer out but retain some of the interference effects, or (I found, quite by accident) it looks good over a deep olive or evergreen cream shadow.

This is the only eyecolor I got from the Signature collection - which was all blues. I have colors similar to the other two, but I don’t have a lavender-leaning medium periwinkle. It coordinates well with the medium fuchsia-rose blush from this set, and I don’t know that I’ve seen too many other eyeshadows of exactly this shade from other vendors, indie or corporate.

Full-coverage metallic in…well, I guess it’s a wintry shade. Shadows-in-snow lavender. The formula is fairly good, and the polish is very durable once it’s cured; but it doesn’t level quite as well as I’d like. The visible brushstrokes are all fairly fine, but they’re still visible. (Unfortunately.)

Meow Cosmetics’ Mythos Mattes collection

It’s been long enough that I can’t remember which collection was released first: Mayhem, or Mythos. The color palettes are not exactly the same, but…there are some strong similarities between the two collections. Alchemy is unique, as is Journey. The other shades in this collection match up not exactly, but very closely with colors from the Mayhem Mattes. (Thankfully there are samples available, so you can see which color you prefer…)

This shadow is buildable, but it is a softer base with a fairly strong shimmer. Not as strong as something like Sultry Bloom, where the base color is pretty much obscured by the finish…but the base is a bit on the sheer side, and adding more layers will also add to the shimmer. I do get some hints of colorshifting as the light angle changes, either the gold or the green is more prominent.

I thought this would be more of a mauvey-rose, or at least a bit more neutral. It does pull a little bit warm - not warm enough to veer into coral territory, but there are definitely warm tones.

If you want the pink color of this one…you’ll want a different eyeshadow. On the other hand, it’s kind of cool to have a strong highlight with a non-sheer base color!

A slightly greyed pastel blue. A little bit less greyed than Mystic Slate, and a little bit lighter too. This is definitely a spring shade. It doesn’t put me in mind of bleached-wood beach houses. The formula is a little better than average, for Zoyas. It applies evenly and spreads well, and it’s thick enough that you don’t see every little imperfection in the nail. I got full coverage in two coats.
