L’Oréal’s Voluminous Butterfly Waterproof Mascara

L’Oréal’s Voluminous Butterfly Waterproof Mascara

Posted on Thursday, at

This was the first of the “Butterfly” mascaras that came out. The formula is not the best I’ve bought from L’Oréal, and the brush is not comfortable or easy for me to use. I’m not fond of the longer bristles on one end. I’ve poked myself in the eye a few times.

Zoya’s Debbie

A darker brown polish that isn’t a near-blackened brown. Of the other polishes in my collection, this is a near-exact match to Color Club’s Positively Posh. China Glaze’s Ingrid is close, but it’s just barely lighter and a little bit warmer. It spreads very well, and the formula was a nice thickness: two coats gave me full opacity, I might have been able to use one thicker coat if I’d wanted to take the time...

NYX Cosmetics’ Suede Matte Lipstick collection

NYX Cosmetics’ Suede Matte Lipstick collection

Posted on Tuesday, at

I have used several different lipstick lines from NYX, with varying degrees of success (love the colors and cost of Round Lipsticks, but the wear-time is not great; love several of the Black Label Lipsticks, which were more expensive but lasted pretty well; the Diamond Sparkle lipsticks were sparkly as hell and a bit…rough. These are a cream-to-powder formula like Bite’s Multisticks, but they cost less, and there are more different colors. They’re not marketed as being...

This colorant reminds me of Firelight and Straight To My Head. It’s a similar base shade with a similar color-shift. This color also shifts to a rosy bronze that looks like a very brown rose-pink, but it isn’t quite the rose suggested in the manufacturer’s artwork for this colorant. Since this is an unblended mica, you’ll need to take special care to help this adhere to your lids or face, to get it to last for...

Real Techniques’ Blush Brush

Real Techniques’ Blush Brush

Posted on Saturday, at

This is a slightly smaller, less dense version of Real Techniques’ Powder Brush. I prefer a more shaped brush for applying my blush, but I like brushes like this to either apply highlighter, or a highlight or “glow” layer.

Bite Beauty’s Multistick in Marscapone

Bite Beauty’s Multistick in Marscapone

This is definitely not the color I thought it would be. I thought it would be more of a deepish pink. Instead, it leans both orange and brown. It isn’t a color that looks fantastic on me. Good news is, it does look fantastic on other people. It gave me even coverage, and when I apply it on my cheeks or eyelids, I can blend it for a bit before it dries down to a near-powder.

I have other metallic blue polishes…but none are exactly this shade. They’re very close, but they’re a little brighter, or they have a slightly roughened finish.

Nails Inc’s Fallen Mermaid polish duo

Nails Inc’s Fallen Mermaid polish duo

Posted on Tuesday, at

Nails Inc has two mermaid-themed polish duos: this one, and Self-Made Mermaid. Where Self-Made Mermaid is medium-light and pale pastels, this duo is deeper shades, both totally opaque (no “near-effects top coats”!) one a metallic finish and the other a scattered-holo.
