Just like it says on the tin…blackened violet sparkle. I can’t see much of any color-change in this one, except to maybe a slightly more blue-violet at angles. Since this is an unblended mica, it won’t stay in place very long unless you use a sealant. It also is less easy to blend out. If you’re not using this as a hard-edged liner, best to blend the other color into it to get best results.

Fyrinnae’s Exquisites collection

Fyrinnae’s Exquisites collection

These started out as semisheer-backed multichrome colors. The first three released - Breathtaking, Dreamwoven Luxuries, Elegant Reverie - came out in December 2014. Princess for a Day followed about a year later. A year after that came several more similar Exquisites. I was not a gigantic fan of the semisheer, more subtle, highlighter-ish colors, so didn't pay much attention. And then came the multichromes. Initially I didn't buy these newer multichromatic shades from Fyrinnae because they came out a few months...

This collection released for Pride Month showcases six of the eight colors of Gilbert Baker’s original pride flag, along with two additional colors. Everything is pretty saturated with excellent coverage. These are all Fyrinnae’s standard loose-powder eyeshadow formula, so they don’t mix with water perhaps as well as I might like; but they apply very nicely when using non-water mixing mediums.

The blackened base and the scattered gold shimmer are the most visible parts of this color. The brown/copper/red shift is there, but not as easily visible as in some multichrome colors. The coverage is good, but for some reason, the color is…not lightened, but muted or filtered when it’s applied, as compared to when it’s in the pot. I don’t know why that is, but I’m not wildly fond of it.

Medium-deep emerald with a blackened base and color changes to gold and blue at different light angles. This is sort of a multichrome, but it’s not as dramatic a shift as Fyrinnae’s Exquisites. The sparkle finish may also not be to everyone’s tastes - it wasn’t possible for me to get a clean lay-down of color that would either be a good shimmer or a clean metallic, there was always some visual granularity.

I love the glow-from-within that this color has! I don’t love the tiny-bubble-y formula, though, or the tendency to show streaks. The finish itself is…interesting. Not quite a frost, a little more reflective than a pearl. I also had to apply three coats to get full opacity. Two wouldn’t cut it. But look at that thing!! I’ll have to add some “daylight” photos for comparison.

Some highlight-useful colors in here (the gold and brown metallics, primarily) and one that can work as a peachy blush-undercolor. The two cool shades work as eyeshadows, but I think that they’re too pigmented to work well as face or cheek color. They’re a bit too bright and too aqua to work as blush or contour, and they’re matte or satin finish, so I don’t see either of them working as a highlighter. Still…this is...

When this originally came out, I was not incredibly interested. (I was also working a job that I intensely disliked and trying to jobsearch and not really making headway, but…yeah.) The color palette was all cooler and neutral shades, which is normally something that would visually catch my interest. There’s a really good mix of finishes and even opacities, so from the formula standpoint, this is almost a something-for-everyone collection.

I don’t see too much colorshift in this. The red does fade to a bronze-brown-ish, but that’s about it. I also wish that the finish was smoother, because this lets a lot of the blackened base show through.
