Tarte’s Lipsurgence in Moody

This color looks a lot darker than it applies; and there's no matte version of the color. (The matte Lipsurgences have better color payoff, in my experience. They also tend to show truer to how they appear…which would mean a very dark wine-red lip color that I probably couldn't pull off.) Moody in the Lip Tint is dark enough to give me some color, but not so dark that it's overwhelming. These original Lipsurgence pencils are semisheer to semi-opaque, and they don't have the best staying power. I don't know if that could be enhanced by using a primer or not…but it's a tiny bit disappointing that something that costs so much is so prone to migration.

A montage of three images: top left, close-up of the lip color in the tube; top right, the color applied over bare skin, to better show the shade; and below, the color applied to the lips.
