A cup of coffee, a beauty blog, and me…

Please pardon the gaps...

The site is in mid-migration now (manual migration of over 7,000 entries, so there's a lot to be done.) The entry stubs are created for older content, but for the most part, the actual content isn't there quite yet. I am working on it. Unfortunately I have no ETA. But feel free to link to any page! When the content does get populated, the URL will stay the same.

A cup of coffee, a beauty blog, and me…

How did everyone survive the first week back to work/school/regular routine? Are the post-Christmas blues dragging you down? Yeah, well, we can't have any of that silliness. New goodies to look at, giveaways to check out, and blogiversaries to celebrate!!

Tomorrow is my official blogiversary (have you entered the giveaway?), and I'll be posting reviews and pics of my recent arrivals. My final Aromaleigh order finally arrived this past week along with my Christmas-day order from Morgana, and I've got some new blushes, two new eyecolors, and a few more backup pots of this-and-that. I've also got a few BE purchases from Ebay to photograph. I've taken the last two days “off” from photographing and swatching my colors, but now that I've got new eyeshadows, blushes, and lipsticks (yay Coraline's Kiss from Morgana!!!), I want to get back on the ball!

Speaking of swatches…starting January 17th I'll be posting lists of my favorite colors. I'll post a new list every few days. I signed up for the Eyeshadow Swatching Project collaboration by TurtleBeauty/@CydonianMU, and the color I claimed was yellows and golds - and then I started doing my blacks/greys/whites, then my blues…and I just kept going, keeping the same format. It's been a good way to start off my swatching project. Consider these my “2010 best of” lists :D

Cindy's blog hits its one-year mark (congrats Cindy!!) on January 13th, so drop by and say hello. You'll want to drop by more frequently, though, and see what neat stuff she's giving away all month! You can win a set of the Buxom City Slickers (drawing closes tomorrow), skincare serums from DFF, or a bottle of Lush's Snow Fairy shower gel (among other things). She'll be having more giveaways throughout January, so subscribe to her RSS feed, or just bookmark the site and drop by daily.

Phyrra's been posting regular FoTDs, and the past five have been slightly more neutral looks - or at least, a departure from the cooler, darker colors. There's a reader-requested peach look, and several subtler looks posted on subsequent days. If you've admired her other looks and kind of wanted to try them yourself but thought “I can't wear that to work/school/temple…!” then check these out and have fun emulating (or just admiring the skills).

Several blogs have been posting promo pics and swatches of Zoya's upcoming Spring 2011 collection, and now finally the official blog posted their press release. These polishes will be available for purchase from the website on January 15th. That's going to cap off a fairly busy week in the nail world, with China Glaze's Anchors Away collection being available for purchase / shipping from etailers beginning on January 12th. (I've already filled my shopping carts, though I won't be able to make my purchases until the end of the month. Dishwasher to replace…meh.)

If folks missed the OMG collection, and are still kind of deflated by the news that the Tronica holographics are the same colors but lack the rainbow/oilslick holographic effects…the polishes can still be had from various sellers on Ebay. (I know because I went hunting for a few backups.) The warm colors (TMI, FYI, TTYL, GR8) are going for around $5-8 a bottle, while the cool colors (DV8, 2NITE, IDK, LOL) range from $10 to $20 depending on the seller. And then there's shipping to factor in. I'm not linking to any Ebay sellers nor am I recommending any, because I don't buy nail polish from Ebay frequently enough to know who's “safe” to recommend…and I haven't received my order yet, so while one shop that I hit (and bought 5 backups from) had fairly good prices and a better-than-decent feedback rating, they have not yet shipped my order that I placed and paid for four days ago. Granted, today is not a business day; and they did say that they wait for the payment to clear; but until I know how their service is, I'm not naming the seller. (They could be fantastic. They could be average. They could suck rocks. I don't know yet.) And no, I didn't see anyone selling the silver-holographic OMG polish, not for any price at all. So if you have a yen for silver-holographic, you may just have to settle for the one from the Tronica collection. (Even GOSH Holographic appears to be unavailable - I saw @HelenNiceThings tweeting and asking any UK folks to keep an eye out for a bottle, she needed one for a US buddy.)

And right now…I'm going to do a manicure with one of the colors from the OMG collection, then rush outside to get photos. BECAUSE WE HAVE SUN!!!
