Apparently, enough is enough

Please pardon the gaps...

The site is in mid-migration now (manual migration of over 7,000 entries, so there's a lot to be done.) The entry stubs are created for older content, but for the most part, the actual content isn't there quite yet. I am working on it. Unfortunately I have no ETA. But feel free to link to any page! When the content does get populated, the URL will stay the same.

Apparently, enough is enough

There comes a time in the life of every hobby or obsession when the thrill just isn't what it used to be.

I've bought most of the Aromaleigh shadows that I care to own. I'm not very excited about the upcoming LE collections - nor even the current one - because I've already got such a wide range of colors in my own stash. Nothing's “new” for me. I've gotten everything I want from them, I like the colors and products a lot…but I'm done. At least for now. (Who knows what will happen in a year or three?)

The Bare Escentuals summer Friends and Family sale is happening now through Sunday…and I am interested in precisely nothing. I've got all the eye colors I want from them, I've got all the blushes, all the buxoms, enough brushes and tubes of mascara to last me until…oh, next year, at least. On the one hand, it's a little baffling, considering I spent nearly two years avidly pursuing the new kits and some of the older eyeshadow shades, combing Ebay, comparing swatch-photos online, making lists, and all that rot. On the other hand…this is actually my normal state of being. I've spent far, far more of my life unconcerned with makeup than I have playing with it (I've only been running this blog for less than 5% of my life, and I've been running this blog for half the time I've been makeup-obsessed.)

I browsed Sephora's site the other week and nothing caught my eye. Not in the Sale section, not in the New section…nothing. Nada. Zip. Zero. Zilch. The last thing I bought from them was a set of four mini-bottles of OPI nail polish. (Two look like they might be hits, one's a definite miss, the final one…could go either way.) While Sephora has never been a dangerzone for me, browsing their site has always turned up something that catches my attention. Not so much, any more.

I have one more package to send in to the Zoya nail polish exchange - I'm getting some of their darker colors, like Casey and Pinta, which will make great backgrounds for the Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure - but then, I'm probably done buying nail polishes for quite some time. (Except some colors from the upcoming China Glaze Vintage Vixen collection. I'm even wavering on the six colors I really like…only because I already have similar colors in my collection.)

So now that I've plateaued, that I've achieved this equilibrium-state, it's time to play…except with the cloudy, rainy weather we've been having up here, playing with color is getting to be more and more difficult. I'm finding myself using softer, neutral colors and looks…and while they do look good, nice and subtle, easily amped up if preferred - I just can't get around to photographing them.

...halp…
