BareMinerals’ High Shine Patina

This color looks much darker in the tube than it does when applied. That's almost a theme for the entire High Shine collection of colors, but it definitely proves out with shades like Patina and Electric. The green is a fairly neutral green, no overt blue or gold tones in the color that I can detect.

This is a High Shine Eyecolor, which means that BE has packaged these in tubes with what I personally consider to be one of the dingiest applicator-things I've seen. The sponge applicator is stored right down in the eyeshadow, and is actually spring-loaded so that when you twist the cap off it's pushed up and out of the tube. The sponge applicator causes far more problems than it solves, IMHO - so even if you adore sponge applicators, I urge you to depot these into empty jars and use your own applicator. It'll be less messy, you won't be storing the applicator right in the product, and if you dislike sponge applicators you're good to go - just use the makeup brush of your choice. (I have better luck using semi-dense brushes like the tapered shadow brush, rather than soft-focus or other fiber-optic brushes, with any of these HS eyecolors.)

Photos that show how the product actually performs...! See how I create my swatches

A montage of three images: top left, close-up of the eyeshadow in the pot; top right, the eyeshadow mixed with water and applied to bare skin; bottom left, the eyeshadow applied dry over primer.
