BareMinerals’ RSVP Invitation to Gorgeous kit

Usually, I’m attracted to kits for the eye and cheek colors, and I’ll often pick those up on Ebay This is one of those rarities: a kit where I was primarily interested in the lip color and the brushes. (And because it was on sale. And because I had another discount.) The blush looked nice, but the eyeliner and the eye color didn’t particularly make me jump with joy. I’ve had so-so experience with BE’s primer shadows, too, so while I won’t avoid them, they’re not really the primary reason for me getting a kit. Often, I’ll just bypass them altogether. But when I did my usual Ebay scan, I couldn’t find Rowdy (the lip color) or the tapered eyeshadow brush for good discounted prices. I was paying nearly retail for these pieces. And I figured - if I’m going to pay $14 for one lipgloss and another $14 for one brush, versus $34 for the entire kit…yeah, I’m getting the whole kit.

BareMinerals’ RSVP Invitation to Gorgeous kit

This kit contained:

  • After Party — medium soft warm brown sparkle
  • Celebration blush — semisheer coral-melon shimmer
  • Golden Peach primer shadow — peachy yellow creme
  • 7pm liner — medium-dark brown creme
  • Pretty Amazing Rowdy — semisheer plum-red sheen
  • original Mineral Veil finishing powder
  • Soft Sweep cheek brush with metallic red handle
  • Tapered Shadow Brush with metallic red handle

The cheek brush is one of the least-valued (to me) items in this kit. I can use the cheek brushes when I'm swatching my blushes and glow powders; but as blush applicators, the bristles are a bit stiff and harsh-feeling. The mineral veil is a total write-off for me, but my mom likes it and uses it, so every time I end up with a pot of mineral veil, I send it to her. The primer shadow color is too yellow and to vivid for me to use easily. If it were more peach and less golden, I might be more easily able to use it. The blush looks very nice on me, an excellent "go-to" color for spring and summer. The eyeshadow is nice, serviceable, not too lightly pigmented, decent application. The sparse gold sparkle is a nice enhancement. I haven't tried the liner yet, but - it's brown. Not dark brown, more like a medium tree-bark brown. The lip color is a nice gloss - not super-sheer, not quite as slick as some other glosses. It adds color without being overwhelming - and if this were a full-color shade, it might be a bit too deep for my preferences. The brush isn't stupendous, but the tapered shadow brush is an excellent "basic" brush. I have a stash of them that I use when swatching my eyeshadows - so it's nice to have brushes that are dedicated to that purpose. If they start wearing out faster or getting shabbier and less precise because they're used / cleaned more often, it doesn't affect application because they put the shadow on my arm or hand, not my lids. (When I first got into BE, this brush and the Wet/Dry Shadow brush were my favorites until I discovered the Soft Focus Eye and Liner brushes.)
