BareMinerals’ Shades of Decadence kit

Bare Escentuals - excuse me, bareMinerals - holiday kits this year were a mixture of loose-powder and pressed-palette makeup. I’ve acquired so much loose-powder BE that often, unless the colors are all-new, I’ll already have most of the items in any new kit. (I have enough Flawless Definition mascara to last me through until the 2100s!) This kit, though, was notable because a) the colors are fullsize, not minis; b) there is no mascara, mineral veil, eyeliner, or foundation; and c) there are so many colors that are new to me! Waning interest in BE has paid off for me, in that the holiday kits are actually a viable alternative. This kit was a great value.

This kit contained:

  • Aglow — pale pink pearl
  • Atomic Plume — smoky deep brown with green duotone shimmer
  • Brave — pale gold-cream sparkle
  • Cypress — evergreen shimmer
  • Gilt — muted neutral gold satin
  • Glitz — medium-deep violet sparkle
  • Rose Gold — muted dusty rose with gold shimmer
  • Splendid — metallic gilded bronze shimmer
  • Wink — medium-deep gold-brown shimmer
  • Raspberry Truffle — semisheer rich berry
  • Starfruit — semisheer golden pink
  • Wearable Mauve — semisheer glazed rose
  • Tantalizer — semisheer champagne nude
  • Temptress — semisheer blushing rose
  • Vixen — semisheer rich mauve
  • Three gift bags

Aglow was originally released in last year’s Things That Make You Glow kit; Brave is a brought-back-from-the-vault color that appeared recently in the Bare Freedom kit; Gilt was in last year’s Things That Make You Glow; Glitz was in Putting On the Glitz; Rose Gold was in the Gold Rush kit; Splendid was in the Trend Report kit; and Wink was in the Nordstrom-exclusive Flirty and Fabulous kit. I only had Brave, Glitz, Rose Gold, and Wink - and hadn’t ever heard of Atomic Plume or Cypress being in any kits at all. (Atomic Plume and Cypress are new to this kit, and as of March 2013, were only ever released in this kit.)

This kit also gave me the chance to try the Marvelous Moxie lip glosses. I have avoided the line since it came out, since I’m generally not much of a lip gloss fan. I prefer a bit more pigment and less of a slippery feeling that I seem to get with so many glosses, including BE’s 100% Natural glosses. The three colors included in this kit - Temptress, Twilight, and Vixen - are not a part of the regular lineup. I actually like these a bit more than I thought I would, but don’t know that I’ll start buying the Marvelous Moxies by themselves.
