BareMinerals’ Velvet Sand

Almost has a whitish overlay atop any underlying color. (As to many of the Velvet eyeshadows. Which is damn frustrating! I want the shade to take center stage, not the finish.) I'm guessing that this was supposed to provide the “velvet” finish, but instead it looks like a hasty whitewash job.

Photos that show how the product actually performs...! See how I create my swatches

A montage of three images: top left, close-up of the eyeshadow in the pot; top right, the eyeshadow mixed with water and applied to bare skin; bottom left, the eyeshadow applied dry over primer.

The base color is a yellow-tan, a nice enough near-neutral. Color payoff is good, application is also very smooth. But that damn finish gets in the way and - to my mind - mucks about with what could otherwise be a rather nice, solid-performing neutral shade.
