BBAC 2012: Day 20 - Secret Santa

Posted on Thursday, at bought • 669 views

This year I signed up for the Secret Santa, hosted by Makeup Pixi3 and Tales of a Scottish Lass. I was excited to see who I'd be matched with! (Technically, this isn't a “Secret Santa” because you know who's sending you gifts. On the other hand, you don't know until late November; and - hey, you get to choose gifts for someone else and receive gifts! So that's a big plus.)

BBAC 2012: Day 20 - Secret Santa

I was matched with Tasha, of Bellezakisses. She's a newer blogger, and there were a few reviews on the front page of her site that caught my attention because they were products I'd been wanting to try! We were matched up just before Thanksgiving. We exchanged emails, let each other know what colors/products/et cetera we liked, and each began assembling the others' presents. We were asked to send them out by December 5th, and we could either open them immediately when we received them, or wait until Christmas.

I have never really been known for my patience. I opened mine as soon as I got it home. The items were all individually wrapped, the presents were in a Christmassy gift bag with colored paper, everything was taking me straight back to childhood! (I felt a bit badly because I didn't painstakingly wrap everything in the package I sent to Tasha.) I first opened the Bond-ettes: four miniature bottles of polish from OPI's Skyfall collection. The colors included were Goldeneye, Live and Let Die, The World is Not Enough, and The Spy Who Loved Me. I've already mentioned how I headed out the next day to get full-size bottles! Next was the bar of chocolate, with packaging printed up to look like a dollar bill with Santa's face in the center. I'm a diehard chocoholic, so I enjoyed this very much! Next were three small cylindrical packages, all labelled with things like “Tootsie Roll”, “Jolly Rancher”, and I honestly forget the third one. They looked about the right size to be just what was written on the wrapping paper…but I opened the first one, and found an NYX matte lipstick! I'd been wanting to try these out, and had read Tasha's review saying that they had nice application and better-than-average staying power. Tasha sent me a tube of matte lipstick in Audrey, a pretty mauve-pink shade. Next up was Burt's Bees Nourishing Lip Balm with Mango Butter. I use Burt's Bees shimmer sticks nightly, so I appreciated getting another moisturizing balm! The final gift was an NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream in Antwerp.

After I'd unwrapped all the presents (and photographed everything!!) I gave one of the pieces of wrapping-paper to BabyJ. He's a young cat, just over a year, and is still in the stage of his life where he LOVES to rip and tear paper. Whenever I get a package, I'll give him a bit of the inner wrapping or packing paper. This keeps him occupied while I play with my new goodies, but also seems to spare my books from similar treatment. I've been nursing a cold this past week, and dealing with a whole lot of paperwork before that, so I've had time (between naps) to paint my nails. I've already worn Live and Let Die and Goldeneye! I've used the lip balm several times a day, to help heal my chapped lips. I haven't tried either of the NYX lip colors yet, other than to swatch them. I didn't want to get them covered with cold germs!!

Today’s giveaway is a mini kit from another OPI collection: Dutch Treats, from the Holland collection. It includes I Have a Herring Problem, Red Lights Ahead…Where?, Kiss Me on My Tulips, and Pedal Faster Suzi. Open internationally!
