BBAC 2013, Day 11: Rimmel’s Kohl Eyeliner Pencils

Specifically: ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal in Nude and Deep Blue; Soft Kohl Kajal in Pure White, Sable Brown and Jungle Green; and Exaggerate Waterproof Eyeliner in Precious Gold and Emerald Sparkle. All three of the lines have additional colors, and I'm sure that the other shades perform just as well. But I have my reasons for choosing those specific items.

BBAC 2013, Day 11: Rimmel’s Kohl Eyeliner Pencils

All three lines are available in almost any drugstore that carries Rimmel Cosmetics. They're around $4.99 a piece, so they're decently priced. The packaging at places like Target is quite a bit more secure than stores like Fred Meyer, Walgreen's, Rite Aid, et al that have the cubby-displays. (Harder to get inadvertent testers when the pencil is completely closed in, similar to how CoverGirl markets most of their eyeliner pencils.)

The various colors caught my attention, though. I use the Nude and White on my waterline, to make my eyes look both larger and brighter. I gravitated toward the Jungle Green and Emerald Sparkle because while there are lots of liners in black, brown, navy blue, even charcoal grey…there aren't too many in green (not even blackened green.) The Deep Blue is truly a deep blue, kind of a medium-bright navy. Precious Gold was, admittedly, something of an impulse-choice, because there are so few regularly-available gold eyeliners. I use Sable Brown as a brow color sometimes, when I want something a bit darker than the Stila Smoke pencil that I normally use. There are some red tones in Sable Brown that play up my eye color and the red tones in my hair.

I do wish that the Exaggerate pencils were a just a little bit softer - but these are also retractable, and the color-sticks have to be a bit firmer to avoid jamming up in the tube. The Soft Kajal pencils are definitely soft - they take just a little bit longer to set. I need to be careful not to try and hurry my makeup application with those, or the color will smudge. Rimmel doesn't seem to be on sale as often as other drugstore brands, and the pencils are on the higher end of average, cost-wise. Still…they're a good deal, and they're fairly easy to find.
