BBAC 2014, Day 5: EoTD with Sleek’s Candy i-Divine palette

Back to eye looks! At least for the next three days. I originally received Candy as a gift from Sirvinya, and while it's got a lot of pretty, brighter colors that are neither neon nor pastel, it isn't something I find myself reaching for that much. I can use these colors with other shades in other Sleek palettes, but it doesn't often occur to me to build a look just using these shadows. Today I had this one scheduled...and to top things off, I overslept and was running behind. So twothree colors it is! Check out Danielle's post for today by looking at the Beauty Blog Advent Calendar.
BBAC 2014, Day 5: EoTD with Sleek’s Candy i-Divine palette

I put Strawberry Sherbet on my brush, thinking that a softer pink with no shimmer would make a good all-over color. Well, it would have, but…you know how sometimes you can wear just the wrong color of pink, and it makes you look a little like you've been crying? Yeah. That. I looked a bit too much like Pris from Blade Runner. It was Oh So Very 80s. I added Blue Fizz on the outer lid, then put Cream Soda on the brow/orbital ridge, hoping to take the edge off of the pink.

Wouldn't you know it, that sucker clung to my lids with maximum tenacity.

So I picked up a shaped blush brush and blended like a mad thing, hoping that I wasn't going to make things so much worse, that I'd have to take everything off and try getting my daily look done at night. Thank goodness I got it to the point that the pink was blended out enough, especially on the edges, that I didn't look like I'd just stepped out of a Jem and the Holograms cartoon! Let this be a lesson to people: non-bright colors can still pack a hell of a wallop, especially if they're pinks. And you're in a hurry.

Photos that show how the product actually performs...! See how I create my swatches

The brush is kind of...odd. It works just fine when you're using your dominant hand and applying to the eye on the same side, but when you're applying to your off-side eye, the triangular sticky-outy bit keeps poking you in the eye. Causing you to blink. Which transfers dots of fresh mascara to your lids and to your cheeks. (This is only exacerbated when you're in the aforementioned hurry and it isn't until the third time this happens that you get - oh, yeah, right, that's what keeps poking me in the eye. And maybe I should rotate the brush so that that part, which is supposed to add extra length and definition to my outer lashes, doesn't hit my lashes at all because I do -=not=- have time to try and master left-handed mascara application today.)</p>

Today's Featured Site: Meg's Makeup Bag

Meg hails from Toronto, and has been blogging (at least at this URL) for just under a year - she had a blog previously, but took a two-year sabbatical. She's back with reviews, hauls from IMATS Toronto (...okay, one, because one year,) favorite products and not-so-favorites, and some daily looks. The site is described as a "makeup and skin care blog", and there are posts about skin care, cleansers, lotions, and travel basics. Most of her items seem to be mid-range prestige down to drugstore and TK Maxx superfinds.
