Beauty Blog Advent Calendar 2012: Day 03 - My Meow Cosmetics’ Xmas Shoppe recommendations

Meow Cosmetics does something that I think is just incredibly cool: it releases seasonal collections for a month or two; and then, every year at the same time, it brings them back. This lets people who only learned about the collections at the very end of their availability have another shot at buying the colors they wanted, and it lets people who take a while to decide (like me) buy their samples, ponder for the better part of a year, and then purchase in full size.

Most of their winter-seasonal inventory is eyeshadows, though in their overall inventory there are several blush, glow powder, and highlighter collections. I haven't purchased full-size items from every collection in Meow's Xmas Shoppe, but I've gotten samples of everything. (Usually as part of the decision-making process!)

Beauty Blog Advent Calendar 2012: Day 03 - My Meow Cosmetics’ Xmas Shoppe recommendations

Here are the items that I'd recommend:

Winter Spirits

Hot Toddy — delicious-looking dark-toffee brown

Lambrusco — I don't know that I've seen this exact shade of icy purple-blue too often

Shiraz — lush non-bright violet with great color payoff. Good for just about anything: lining, contour, accent, all-over...

Ghosts of Xmas Past

Elf — coverage could be better, but I haven't seen many other successfully-executed greens with red sparkle highlights

Santa Baby — almost-purple bordeaux rose - but it's definitely red. (Except when it pulls purple.)

Glacial Grove

Howl — the brown is deep enough that the silvering doesn't wipe it out

Permafrost — pretty, sparkling near-silver with pink undertones

Verdure — the best color payoff of the collection - the dark green is not softened completely away, but it's not so visually visceral, either

Snowflakes

Avalanche — gorgeous indigo-blue sparkle

Flurry — very pale, but good for adding a blued highlight

Ice Storm — amazing, intense blue sparkle

Merry Mayhem

Jangle — better color intensity than Ho Ho Ho; makes a better liner and accent color

Ring-a-ling — reason

Star — lovely rich yellow with solid color payoff

12 Pains of Xmas

Batteries Not Included — reason

Cat in Tree

Lights Out

Reindeer

Vixen

Comet

Blitzen

Holiday Ghost Stories

Present — sheer, and soft silver with a pink iridescence. This one surprised me, with how much I liked it!!

Xmas Rant

Bustle

Greed

Traffic — though if you buy Star, from Merry Mayhem, you might not need this also.

Holiday Wishes

Joy — lovely creamsicle-orange shade

Magic — surprising near-metallic purple-brown

Peace on Earth — a soft, cream-white with excellent coverage

Surprises — warm metallic red, almost metallic, almost "bright" but not "candied"

Xmas Trees

Noble

Spruce

Sugarplums

Sugarplum blush

Vision

Xmas Misfits

King Moonracer

Cornelius

Ice Blossoms

Crownbeard

Hoar Frost

Aurora

either one — if you're a sheer-glitter-effects fan

Santa Baby

Duplex

Kisses

Santa Honey — if you love rich gold shadows, you need this color

Midnight Clear

Ancient Splendor

Peaceful Wings

Solemn Stillness
