Please pardon the gaps...

The site is in mid-migration now (manual migration of over 7,000 entries, so there's a lot to be done.) The entry stubs are created for older content, but for the most part, the actual content isn't there quite yet. I am working on it. Unfortunately I have no ETA. But feel free to link to any page! When the content does get populated, the URL will stay the same.

Beauty Blogger Challenge: week three

Welcome to the third week of Shatteredshards' beauty bloggers' writing prompt/challenge. It's a bit like Beauty Blogs' Backstage, in that it gets us to share a bit about ourselves and our blog…but all the questions come from one source, they're available in advance (if you're the preplanning type), and there's no requirement about how long you've been blogging, or how frequently. Want to find out more? Check it out!

What is your blogging environment? Do you sit on the couch with your laptop after the kids have gone to bed, or do you lock yourself in your home office? Do you listen to music, watch tv, or multitask while you blog? Extra credit: share a photo (or five) of your environment.

I blog from my home office. I've got my music on, coffee by my side, and I'm in my fuzzy socks. There's usually a cat in the cat bed atop the file cabinet (which is to the left of my desk.) I've got a standing workstation and a drafting stool, so whether I'm sitting or standing depends on some factor I haven't bothered to figure out…though if my back is at all sore or stiff, I stand rather than sit. When I need to take photos I go around the corner - so it's right, then right, then right again. (The bathroom is on the other side of the wall behind me, as I sit at my desk.)

Previously I've had my home office in the same space as my living room. This was when I was in a 1-bedroom apartment. While it worked for those days that were deadly slow at work, I prefer having a separate home office. Then, when I'm “done for the day”, I can not only shut off my work computer, but can actually leave the room and (if the day's been bad enough) shut the door to symbolically lock all the stress away from the rest of my house. I have a laptop, and my wireless network is active and secured; but I prefer working with my ergonomic keyboard and lefthanded mouse. (I loathe trackpads and those intra-keyboard mouse-button things.)

I compose all of my entries at the keyboard, and will save them for future polishing and publication; but when I'm planning layouts, themes, schedules, or things of that nature, I prefer to write in longhand. I have several mini legal pads and a jar of pens close to hand whenever I feel the need to scribble.
