Born Pretty’s Nail Stamping Polish collection

These are smaller bottles - less than half the size of traditional nail polish. Since these are not meant to be used as all-over colors, though, perhaps this is a decent idea. It wouldn’t make a lot of sense to buy lots of bottles that you know will dry out before you can use it all. The brushes are regular-size, though - useful for nail stamping, but not at all for freehand nail art.

The formula is thicker, so if you do use it for freehand nail art, apply it as thinly as possible. It will take longer to dry and cure. They’re grouped into color families, but I haven’t found too many options to buy an entire color family…except for the classic colors. I have several regular nail polishes that I can use for nail stamping, but I thought I’d try these out and see how they worked. I tried at leasst one color from every group, except for two. I didn’t buy any of the holos or the thermals - the former, because I don’t konw that I trust the holographic effects to really show up when used for thinner-line nail stamping, and the thermals because I assume that they’ll have about a 6- to 9-month shelf life, like most other thermal polishes.

I’ve used these with my dotting tools, with my nail brushes, and with my nail stamps. I do notice the difference when I use these: the finer lines in a given stamping design are smoother, bolder, and more definite than when I use a standard nail polish (even if it has a thicker formula.) I still have some problems with the nail stamps if I don’t move quickly enough for the thin lines to get onto the nail before drying out, but the drying-out happens more slowly when I’m using these stamping polishes than when I’m using one of my regular nail polishes. I haven’t used them for wide-area or large-form freehand nail art, and I don’t know that I will. My regular nail polishes work just fine for things like colorblocking and gradients.

The names that I've found for the colors aren't 100% consistent (maybe some are renamed or re-released at some point), so while I've run across many of the same names on different sites (Born Pretty, Amazon, Ebay) that isn't always the case.
