CND’s Vinylux Magenta Mischief (209)

Have you ever had a nail polish color that just…glowed from the inside? (Something that isn’t a holographic, shimmer, sparkle, glitter, or metallic finish?) This one does! It’s really breathtaking. I originally thought, oh, I might like that color a bit. It’s not totally purple, it’s not totally pink, it’s just different enough, it looks pretty.

It’s not ‘pretty’. It’s fucking GORGEOUS!

Photos that show how the product actually performs...! See how I create my swatches

Yes, it’s magenta, with a pearl finish, and - possibly, kind of - some microparticle texture. But the color itself is the big draw for me. (It will possibly be a big turn-off for some, but…hey, everyone has their preferences.) When I’m outdoors in full sunlight it’s a rich magenta with the nice pearl lustre. Indoor lighting is when it shows to best advantage! That’s when the color looks like it’s pulling the light in and bouncing it back from the bottom-most layer of polish.

The one drawback to this color was that it stained my nails. Not hideously. Just enough that I had to wait a few days after removing this polish before I could think about wearing anything else lighter-colored. Since Vinylux recommends wear without any kind of base coat, this means nail staining. Just be aware of this, plan for a day or two where you will have nails that are ever-so-slightly reddish from the stain left behind by this polish. It faded daily, and was all but gone by the morning of the 3rd day after removing the polish.
