Color Club’s Karat Cake

When the 2019 Oil Slick collection came out, I wasn’t all that interested in many of the “new” colors. I didn’t know that they’d have much multichrome action, and I didn’t want to pay extra for non-colorshifting polishes. The first time I saw review-photos of Karat Cake, I thought…well, hey, that’s Firelight in nail polish form, let’s give it a try.

The polish shows brushstrokes pretty visibly. I also got a bubbly bottle - I don’t know if I shook it too violently, or if I just got an off-bottle. I do love the shade and the stronger gold shimmer effect! I did apply three coats, because with two coats I was getting just a bit of VNL still.

Photos that show how the product actually performs...! See how I create my swatches
