Construction Time Again

Please pardon the gaps...

The site is in mid-migration now (manual migration of over 7,000 entries, so there's a lot to be done.) The entry stubs are created for older content, but for the most part, the actual content isn't there quite yet. I am working on it. Unfortunately I have no ETA. But feel free to link to any page! When the content does get populated, the URL will stay the same.

Construction Time Again

Evolution happens in everything: organisms, communities, projects. A web site is one big never-ending constantly-evolving project. Sometimes the changes are small and fairly straightforward - a new template, for example. Other times, the require a bit more slogging.

Visitors may leave comments on looks (FoTD, EoTD, and NoTD), reviews (entries will be in the Reviews category), collection-entries, kit-entries, general news posts, and most other rambles. I am going to close comments on all link-love posts, blog-network listings, individual color-entries, and pure “admin” pages like the Contact form. If you've got a comment on the sites or entries featured in the link-love posts, the bloggers themselves would love to have you visit and participate at their site. If you want to contact me, use the Contact form - that's what it's there for. :D

Over the next months I'm going to be going back through my individual color-entries and tagging them with warm, neutral, or cool. I know there's a term for this…it's not color intensity, color “heat” doesn't seem quite right. This information can help people who (for example) want to try wearing orange eyeshadow, but need a more neutral shade of orange - or want to experiment with blue eyeshadows, but want to stick with cool blues rather than warn blues. I have no idea how long this project will take, though I've already tagged a few dozen colors (mostly the most recently entered ones.)

I keep promising myself that, at some point, I'll start doing comparison-swatches of similar and duplicate colors - because I know that my own product-shots are not the world's best photography, and because I personally appreciate side-by-side photos of similar colors so that I can decide if they're similar enough that I don't need them, or if they're just different enough that I do need them. (Realistically, though, I have no idea when this might actually happen. I'm getting closer to starting the project, but I think I'll have to break it down into chunks. Everything's about time and planning.)

I've had template ideas for a while. I had a semi-ambitious plan to have several templates, and allow logged-in members to choose from among multiples. That particular project requires visual creative thoughtspace, though, which is not my strong suit - so the ideas are going to have to stay ideas, written down on my mini legal pad, until I get enough space to breathe and start thinking creatively again.
