Today is the first game of Seattle WA's football club (soccer team), the Sounders. People have been waiting for this for quite a while. Local soccer enthusiasts have apparently been holding their first-season tickets for the past two years. Bar crawls are arranged. The Seattle Space Needle has been lit up in green and blue (the team colors). People are taking two and three days off of work - for the pregame parties, the game day, and the post-game parties. You might say that there's been something of a commotion.

I'm working event staff at the game tonight. We have a uniform - white shirt, khaki pants, black shoes, no deviations. We can't even wear the team-color scarves I'm sure that the fans will be handing out (and have been draping all over everything in Seattle, including the great big statue of Lenin in Freemont.) But I'm female. I can at least wear eye makeup in the team colors - and as long as it's not too heavy, I can probably get away with it.

I went to my makeup bins, reached into the greens, and pulled a pot. Same with the blues. The ones I chose are perfect team colors - they might as well be the official eye colors for the team. I turned the pots over to see which lucky two I'd chosen.

I had pulled two TSS colors: Misplaced Sanity and Broken Mind. I really, really hope the names don't turn out to be an omen of some sort. (edit: they didn't. The event went well, there were some drunk-and-disorderly fans (naturally), but no fights, no major incidents, everyone had fun.)

• Benefit BadGAL Blue mascara, upper and lower lashes
