First Impressions: ColourPop’s Lippie Stix

Dumb name, decent product. I like the price point, and the color payoff is great. The sudden upswing in difficulties with shipping and customer service, though…? Yeah, not so fond of that.

Since I am profoundly not into liquid lipsticks, and do like “easy to apply” and “decent price,” I was interested to see how these worked out. The color payoff is really good! I didn't have to go back over my lips to get full coverage, and the color didn't fade away or even start to falter after an hour - even without a primer. I like how they mark which ones are which finish - and if you love the bolder shades but don't want the utter intensity, try their sheers. I love purple lip colors, but not all-out straight-up purple. Whip, which is a sheer, gives me a softer but not too soft purple. ColourPop's Sheer is some other company's regular level of opacity.

I like that the bottom of the tube has the color, and a sticker with the color name. (No problems trying to read the holographic writing, as with ColourPop's gel liner sticks.) I also like that the caps click closed - so you know that it's not going to suddenly come open in your purse or pocket. Some of their names are not my favorite, and after my first few purchases I learned how to mentally color-correct for the product representations on their site…which aren't always true to how the color will appear. (They also don't have all of their lipstix swatched or even demoed/worn, so it's a little bit more of a guessing game.)

Photos that show how the product actually performs...! See how I create my swatches
