Please pardon the gaps...

The site is in mid-migration now (manual migration of over 7,000 entries, so there's a lot to be done.) The entry stubs are created for older content, but for the most part, the actual content isn't there quite yet. I am working on it. Unfortunately I have no ETA. But feel free to link to any page! When the content does get populated, the URL will stay the same.

First impressions, first orders: Aromaleigh and Coastal Scents

I've been caught in the latest storm to hit the BE/Ebay world: a seller who offered kits at half-retail price with free shipping, as well as other products. The sales required immediate payment. Then two days after I paid (a little longer for some folks), I received email from Ebay that the listings were removed. The seller wasn't even active on Ebay any more. So now I (and everyone else burned by a seller using the name of Frank Sullivan - Ebay id franklyannie) have filed claims on these transactions and should be getting my money back in a few weeks.

That's better than nothing. But I kind of wanted the stuff.

I've been buying some other things recently, and about half of the items arrived today: my order from Ulta (BE sale-items and some John Frieda buy-one-get-one shampoo and conditioner), and my first orders from both Aromaleigh and Coastal Scents. I had known about these vendors for a while, but was a little hesitant to try either - partially because I had other BE and TSS things in the hopper, and partially because I wasn't quite sure where to start. (Especially with Aromaleigh. They have a truly ginormous selection.)

I finally placed an order with Aromaleigh because Marja posted an Aromaleigh look that included a lovely blue color (Ocean) - which she told me was going to be discontinued. So naturally I went and bought three pots of Ocean. (I think I may have cleaned out their inventory.) Meanwhile I poked around and looked for a few other bits - including the other two colors Marja had used in her Blues look. I got three pots of Dawn (part of the Pure Eyes collection - color being discontinued), and one pot each of Space Oddity, Planet Earth, Magic Wand, Angel Bouquet, Blaze, and Delicate Burgundy. I think I've got a goodly amount of pinks and reds now :D I also got a sample baggie of Jade, another color that I'd thought about getting. I don't know if I'll get it from them in fullsize, but I'm glad I got the sample. The Aromaleigh colors come in 5-gram-size jars with a sifter; and those puppies are packed full. No tilting them on their sides, tapping them, and watching the product settle to only fill the bottom third of the jar like some other brands of mineral makeup (Bare Escentuals, you've got some lovely toys…but that last bit's aimed squarely at you.)

That same day, I also placed my first order with Coastal Scents. I got a few jars of mica powder, figuring that I'd just use them as-is for eye colors and get the pigment and sheen. I was seriously not expecting the size of the jars. They're huge!! I thought I'd be getting jars the same size as, or close to, MAC's pigment powders. Imagine my surprise when I opened the large box from Coastal Scents and saw several jars larger than a jar of yogurt!! I got Aruban Coral mica powser, Winterveld mica powder, Sunstone mica powder, Interfine Violet Pearl mica powder (Bare Escentuals translation: a great big huge jar of eye quickie - which is precisely what I was looking for), Interfine Blue mica powder (Bare Escentuals translation again: a great big jar of Neptune eye quickie - score!!! I love that color), Colorana Blue mica powder, which is being discontinued; and Ocean Blue glitter powder, which is actually a blued-green. I don't know if I'll get much more glitter powder - I'll have to try mixing this with stuff and see how it does. I also purchased turquoise gel liner. Initially, this had me worried, because when I opened the jar it looked like it had the same consistency as Vincent Longo's Eye Souffle, which I do not like. Happily, though, Coastal Scents' gel liner has a bit more heft to it.

And now, off to go play with my toys. And figure out some way to store these freaking huge jars of mica powder. They won't fit in my current storage solution, that's for sure…
