The site is in mid-migration now (manual migration of over 7,000 entries, so there's a lot to be done.) The entry stubs are created for older content, but for the most part, the actual content isn't there quite yet. I am working on it. Unfortunately I have no ETA. But feel free to link to any page! When the content does get populated, the URL will stay the same.
Very nearly to the midpoint of the month - already!! I managed to swatch a dozen eyeshadows and half a dozen lipsticks today, after a week of not really swatching anything.
I have managed to get settled with the new posting schedule, though I now just need to get back into posting looks. (I just started using the Clarisonic, and my skin's going through the “purge” phase - so combine that with winter-skin dryness, and…ugh.) I've got a whole boatload of nail polishes that I've purchased and have worn, but haven't reviewed or posted mani pictures…so there's that segment of my posting schedule, taken care of for the next…oh, the next year, roughly.
Morgana Cryptoria is releasing nearly two dozen new lipstick colors. Many of them are duochrome, which interests me. Even more interesting to me, though: many of them will also be released as eyeshadow colors. So let's see here: new colors, duochromes, and from Morgana - which releases some fairly high quality shadows. I'm definitely interested! She's also debuted the lipstick coven, a “club” that customers can join, get a reduced price on lipsticks for a year, and some other as-yet-unspecified goodies. (I had emailed her about an eyeshadow club idea, but since she's going to be concentrating on lipsticks and releasing minimal shadows, this will make more sense for her business model. Though - selfishly - I wish that it included eyeshadows as well.) The coven membership is $25 for one year, which means that if you buy 10 lipsticks in that year you essentially recoup your membership fee. I probably won't be getting many of the lipsticks right away, even though Gilded Ballerina looks like a color I'll really love, because I currently have -=lots=- of lipsticks…which I so rarely wear (I need to work on that. There we go, my Lunar New Year's Resolution.) I'd like to actually use these others up a bit before I go buying more lipsticks with no preservatives. I like how she's added not only lipstick samples, but the ability to buy samples of all of the new lipsticks with a single click. Hopefully that will exist for the various eyeshadow collections as well!! Some won't be made into eyeshadows because they contain a red that's not safe for use near the eyes; but I'm looking forward to the eyeshadow versions of Fire in the Sky, Gilded Ballerina, Shifting Violet, Violet Banana, Roses and Violets, Dianthus, Plumeria, and Gilded Brown.
Beauty Blogs' Backstage is resuming in March, with a few changes. I've had problems this first year with all the administrative stuff, trying to find partners for folks who ended up either suddenly contacting me saying “I've got an emergency and I need to sit this month out” or folks who just never responded to their partners…or folks who didn't send in their completed interviews. I thought about ways to streamline participation, make the workings more open, and reduce “chasing after” both by myself and by the various partners who were honestly trying to get responses. I think that by posting the partner lists, having people post their URLs to interviews once they're up, and cutting people who don't leave their URLs, I'll reduce administrivia and headaches for everyone, and folks who have been enthusiastic about participating will start having better chances of having active, courteous partners.
I placed a sundries order with drugstore.com, and finally broke down and got Orly's Space Cadet (which is a close cousin to Accessorize's perennially-out-of-stock Aztec, which is a near-dupe for one of the recently-released MAC polishes). Now I'm just waiting for a run of sunny-ish days to wear this polish! It's a duochrome, I knew that much; and it also looks like it's a glitter-foil duochrome.
It's now less than 200 days until the Great Atlanta Shopping Expedition. Sirvinya and I are descending on Lenox Square Mall for a day of shopping; and since poor Numindan doesn't arrive until that evening, we may just have to go back a second time. (I know. The things we put ourselves through for friends.) And then of course there's some science fiction thing going on the weekend afterward… Actually, DragonCon is the main reason for going. The shopping is definitely important, and we're both planning our lists; but without the initial impetus-draw of DragonCon, the shopping wouldn't be happening.
