Ho ho ho! Holiday kits I can safely pass by

Please pardon the gaps...

The site is in mid-migration now (manual migration of over 7,000 entries, so there's a lot to be done.) The entry stubs are created for older content, but for the most part, the actual content isn't there quite yet. I am working on it. Unfortunately I have no ETA. But feel free to link to any page! Ho ho ho! Holiday kits I can safely pass by

Just saw pictures of Bare Escentuals' Jewel kit (available in November through Ulta)...and while it's a nice-looking kit, and certainly not just another brown collection (golden, purple, and yes one deep tan-brown color) it doesn't grab me and say, "Take me home!!" The colors are too similar to things I already have. I'm vaguely interested in the brushes, but those always end up on Ebay in mass quantities, even from Ulta kits - so I'll just get those there. Another BE holiday item that I'd been contemplating was the Candy Cocktails kit. Four mini eyeshadow colors and an eye quickie brush, similar to the Chocolate Decadence and Sweet Decadence mini kits - all new colors. They don't thrill me, though. Strawberry Daquiri looks similar to Strawberry Mousse. Kir Royale is a plum brown - similar to things I already have. Long Island Iced Tea is a medium sheer brown, and I already have Mojito.

So thus far from Bare Escentuals for the 2009 holiday season, we have:

  • Buxom Babes About Town — got, splitting with someone else (I take the cool colors, they take the warm colors)
  • The Surprise — got, love
  • Sweet Obsessions — got, love
  • Custom Eye Kit — got, great value, good gift idea
  • Buxom Babes Winter Escapade —- got, love
  • Happiness kit — passing, too similar to the Surprise kit
  • Candy Cocktails kit —- passing, the three colors I don't have look too similar to other colors that I do have
  • Jewel kit — passing, even though it's not so similar to the Happiness and Surprise kits and it's not another variation on the "brown" theme...the colors are just too similar to stuff I already have
  • Keychain Kisses — passing (I do not love lip gloss)
  • Radiance Rocks — passing (is it just me, or do they vaguely resemble those underarm-deodorant crystals that were oh so vogue about ten years ago?)

Of the kits I'm passing, I'm not even really interested in one or two items. The whole kit is a no-go. How's that for a nice relief!! (Now I can just hope that Aromaleigh brings back Twinkling Lights for their holiday 2009 collection...)
