Okay. So I'm back. (Sort of.) You'll notice that most of the entries are missing, and that the comments are gone.

That's because I have to reconstruct them manually. I cannot plop the database tables over; I tried that twice, and each time it broke.

So…yeah. Lots and LOTS of cutting and pasting in my future. Lots.

In good news - it's back!! Yay!! And I didn't have to try to learn another templating / design system just yet!! (WordPress users…y'all can keep that thing. It's a nice enough system, and it's just recently added multisite functionality; but you have to know PHP to edit the templates appreciably. It's…no. I like the look that I have rather much. It's simple. It's something I can tweak. It's built using CSS and best practices. The WP templates have a lot of code in there that may or may not be used for a given template. It's great if you want to *blip* change the skin of your site in five minutes…but I don't want that kind of functionality. Or let's just say that it would take me a few weeks to learn the ins and outs of that, get my site looking the way I wanted it to, and in the meantime I'd be dead in the water. I am still looking at other CMS systems, because I'm all but willing to bet that this one will turn up its toes and die the minute I have to upgrade MySQL to 5.x. But…that's a longer-term project.

My shorter-term project is to slowly, painfully, restore all my entries for this site.

Beauty Blogs' Backstage is back up, with all content present and all links unbroken. The August round will go on as scheduled. I just won't be participating because 1) I'm the “designated angel” for folks whose partners have to bow out late; and 2) I've got A Prior Commitment.
