MAC’s Steel Blue pigment

Apparently this was one of MAC's original pigment colors. I don't recall if I've ever noticed it not being on the web site; but I don't stalk the site as much as the die-hard MAC fanatics out there. It's…well, it's okay. The color depth doesn't seem to make the transfer from pot to lid. Instead of a medium-deep tealish navy with gold shimmer highlights, I get a nearly-watercolor-ish gilded blue-teal.

Photos that show how the product actually performs...! See how I create my swatches

A montage of three images: top left, close-up of the eyeshadow in the pot; top right, the eyeshadow mixed with water and applied to bare skin; bottom left, the eyeshadow applied dry over primer.

The color itself isn't unattractive; and this may be the perfect blue for people who have sincere concerns about too bright or too bold a blue eyeshadow. But…I wish it applied more true to the shade it appears in powder form.
