My Pretty Zombie’s Black Eye

Applied dry, it almost looks like dried blood - or the red parts of a bruise. So, yep, the color name fits. Foiled, the red softens a little and moves a bit out of brown-red into faded burgundy. The shimmer is scattered, so it's not going to give you lots of fallout. Just enough light-catching and refracting to keep you from looking like you -=actually=- have a black eye.

A montage of three images: top left, close-up of the eyeshadow in the pot; top right, the eyeshadow mixed with water and applied to bare skin; bottom left, the eyeshadow applied dry over primer.

I've found that this color works best for me as a liner shade, either tightlined or smudged out. Trying to use it as an inner-vee accent shade did make me look a little too much like the aftermath of a shiner. It may turn out that if I find the right placement and complementary colors for this shade, I'll be able to wear it in other ways. It does look good as a liner shade, though - either by itself or over black or deep brown.
