Please pardon the gaps...

The site is in mid-migration now (manual migration of over 7,000 entries, so there's a lot to be done.) The entry stubs are created for older content, but for the most part, the actual content isn't there quite yet. I am working on it. Unfortunately I have no ETA. But feel free to link to any page! When the content does get populated, the URL will stay the same.

News Roundup for week 18, 2011

I remember when Sketcher's Shape-Ups came out, and they were so expensive - I remember prices close to $200. I was mildly interested in these shoes, but not -=that=- interested. $200 for a pair of trainers? You've got to be kidding me. So when I went to Costco because I needed new trainers, and I saw Shape-Ups for $50 (and found them in my size!), I got a pair and wore them for about a month. Last weekend, while we had a brief sunny episode, I walked to Costco and bought another pair. I've now got my “summer” trainers (white with light blue) and my “winter” trainers (black). Laugh all you want, but I haven't bought new trainers in six years, and the ones I did buy were really inexpensive - I think they ended up being $15 a pair, with the BOGO sale. One pair - my “winter” trainers - died this past winter. The other pair isn't dead yet, because I tend to wear sandals in the spring and summer; but who knows when the Sketchers may pass through Costco again?

In other news, if you're in the US or Canada…you've all gotten your Mother's Day cards and gifts and suchwhich for your moms, right?

Up and Coming

Rockeresque Beauty is due to open next week! The store opening is set for Monday, May 9.

Shiro Cosmetics' 1st anniversary was April 30th, and Caitlin has a new collection in the works...which will be releasing Monday, May 9.

So in other words...next week could be just a tiny bit frenetic for folks' wallets, with all the new goodies coming out!

Good Reads

I've been in a reorganizing frame of mind this week, and so while I've read some blogposts that have entertained me, I haven't found anything that made me think, "I should share that with more people!!" I love it when others do that on their blogs, because it gets me off my beaten path of regular reads and introduces me to new things. So what blogs do you think I might like? They can be big blogs, little ones, don't even have to be 100% beauty-related. Funny is good, analytical is good, and I only really read English, but if a blog is in two languages (like Fashioned In Finnland, who regularly posts bilingually) I'm good. (Anything that plays music when I open it will get you a nasty thought winging your way.)

Items of Note

Sassy Minerals, an indie company that's been around for a few years (and whom I reviewed a few weeks back) just announced today that they've been bought, their parent company is now LaurEss, they and that company will soon be moving into a new facility that allows them both to expand and upgrade, and they'll still be around in their current format. Full details on their blog!

Fyrinnae appears to be open now (at least, the site's been up for the past week) and there's been a notice posted that PE will soon be back in stock (waiting on good quality containers that will work with their filling machine) and some older colors will be disappearing due to raw ingredient discontinuations.

Phyrra's blogiversary is May 14th. Be sure and drop by and say hi!

There are less than threefour months until Dragon*Con. I know many of you don't really care much about that...but I've been planning this since September 2010, and I'm going to spend a day beauty-shopping with someone from Canada and someone from the UK. You know, places where they don't have easy access to Sephora or Ulta, or lots of the drugstore brands that we 'murrikuns take for granted. (Or easy access to nail polish brands like Zoya and China Glaze and OPI.) Oh, yeah, major shopping is planned, even by me :D

(Edited because I originally misstated the number of months until Dragon*Con. The excitement of bad math strikes again.)
