NYX Cosmetics’ Holographic Halo Eye Tint collection

I haven’t generally been a big fan of eye shadows or primers that need a doefoot applicator…but combine low price with the word “holographic” and I’ll check it out. These don’t act holographic, in that there isn’t a rainbow-effect shimmer. There’s more of one single interference color on top of the base color, and it isn’t even always a different color. Setting that aside, they’re good for highlighting, or as bright/reflective liners. My hands-down favorite is Fairy Dust, followed by Acid Blue. Fairy Dust works as a base layer, but also as an interesting liner color: I get the taupe base shade at some angles, but the near-metallic yellow flash effect as the accent.

Two eyeshadows, close-up detail and swatched: Acid Blue, and Fairy Dust Two eyeshadows, close-up detail and swatched: Galaxy Glow, and Gold Bar One eyeshadow, close-up detail and swatched: Wild Orchid

One important thing to note: since these have a pretty strong interference layer, they blend out...differently than the Lid Lingerie eye tints. The interference layer gets broken up, of course; and since that's often the strongest thing about each of these eye tints, it can seem like they don't blend as evenly. If you want these to blend with another eyeshadow, it might take some practice to get the effect you want.

This collection contains:

  • Acid Blue
  • Fairy Dust
  • Galaxy Glow
  • Gold Bar
  • Wild Orchid
