I really like this color. One coat is a sheer light purple glaze. Two coats deepens the purple slightly and makes the blue flash much more apparent. This is going to sound a bit odd…but the purple is “Sterno-Magenta”. That's what color this is - seriously. This polish has the same “blue-light special” effect as Zoya's Gemma, only the blue's more pronounced. I only needed two coats of Virtual Violet to get a good duochrome, whereas with Gemma even three coats gave me a subtle duochrome rather than something overt. Some folks speak about various nail polishes where they can't stop staring at their nails? This was one of those. The finish isn't quite metallic, but it sort of is; it's not a full-on duochrome, but it sort of is; and the color isn't something I've seen much of, in terms of nail polishes. It's a nearly-neon-but-not-quite shade.

This color and effect is also simliar to Sephora's Flashy Mauve waterproof liner pencil.
The polish applied very smoothly and spread fairly cleanly, though it does show brushstrokes a little bit - not as much as some metallic polishes, but it was there if you knew what you were looking for. It wasn't too watery, though there were a few thinner areas even with two coats. The polish dried fairly quickly, and lasted quite a long time with no top coat and no chipping or even tip wear. For $3.50 or $4.99 (depending on which store you shop at) this is a pretty good deal!
