Saturday Soundtrack: Paranoimia (Art of Noise featuring Max Headroom)

This week's video is a total, unabashed late-80s flashback. (Or early 90s. I'm too decaffeinated to go look up dates right now.) Apologies to the folks who have been relying on me to introduce them to new mellow-listening music...but depending on what kind of mood I'm in, you'll get international, vocal, a capella, opera, industrial thrash, metal, electronica, trance, soundtracks...or this kind of thing.

I loved Max Headroom - both the movie, and the less-than-fantastic fairly short TV series. Mildly dystopian; distrustful and distainful of "the system" which, as a newly minted college student, I was fated to become a part of in just a few short years; and sarcastic. Forget movies and stories set in the next century with technology that was only hinted at, these episodes took you "20 minutes into the future". You could look around and see how these things might come about and not much of an idea how to escape them. Combine the figurehead (literally!!!) of that show with electronic pop music...

And on drums, THE POPE!!! (actual song lyric. Don't believe me? Just listen.)
