I've been listening to a pair of short playlists recently, depending on my mood: three goth/darkwave tracks by various artists, or three tracks by Lisa Gerrard. It all depends on whether I'm feeling ticked off and on edge (darkwave!!) or somewhat calm and centered. I didn't see the movie Ali, so wasn't aware that Lisa Gerrard collaborated on its soundtrack. I heard this song on someone's YouTube video, went and tracked down which album it came from, and decided against buying the entire CD - but I did buy this track. This one seemed like a "soundtrack" versus "motion picture score" deal - there are plenty of buyers on Amazon who bought it for the ethereal and emotive songs they actually heard in the movie...but most of those aren't on the soundtrack. (I remember in the late 80s and early 90s when so many movies had soundtracks that made me want to buy the album - but then I'd find out that they were full of a bunch of songs that were playing in the background of a scene, or over two lines of dialogue. They weren't what I wanted at all! Well, at any rate, Amazon's customer reviews kept me from plunking down money for the full CD which, for me, would have been a disappointment.

This song is amazing, and almost makes me want to see the movie to see how it was used. This is the only track by Lisa Gerrard that made it to the "soundtrack", though other music that she did for the film may be in the score. (Just not available to consumers. Grump.)
