Please pardon the gaps...

The site is in mid-migration now (manual migration of over 7,000 entries, so there's a lot to be done.) The entry stubs are created for older content, but for the most part, the actual content isn't there quite yet. I am working on it. Unfortunately I have no ETA. But feel free to link to any page! When the content does get populated, the URL will stay the same.

Sephora Friends and Family 2010 starts on Friday

...in theory. I've seen this date on many blogs and forums, but 1) Sephora had a F&F sale back in June 2010, and they don't usually do this twice a year; and b) there hasn't been a peep on Sephora's blog, or an email from them (I'm a VIB and am signed up for their regular mailing list, and haven't received anything yet). At any rate, the Friends and Family sale is supposed to run from October 22, 2010 through November 3, 2010. No solid word on the discount or code, either - but going on previous years it will be at or around 20% off everything Sephora sells, and the code will be something like FF2010.

So what are you getting?

I'll be getting:

  • Buxom City Slickers (will be just under $23 with the F&F discount) — I admit it, I'm a Buxom Lip Product Junkie. I used to prefer fullsize, but now I prefer the minis, in kits like this one - I get more colors, and storage / travelling is a little easier.
  • Sephora Glitter Cream Eyeshadow Set (will be $16 with the F&F discount) — I don't expect them to perform as well on me as MAC's paint pots; but they're relatively cheap, and they're fun.
  • Sephora Flashy Liner collection (will be $16 with the F&F discount) — I'm a huge fan of Sephora's Flashy Liner pencils - they apply smoothly, they're waterproof, they wear as well as Urban Decay's liner pencils, and they cost a lot less. This kit is a great way to get a good selection of colors - including two newer colors (Flashy Violet, Flashy Ultra Green) and three that aren't yet in available individually (Flashy Grey, Flashy Indigo, Flashy Ultra Brown). I only have two of these already, and I love the whole line, so this is great for me!

I've thought about, but won't get:

  • Sephora's Endless Color Blockbuster Palette (will be $38.50 with the F&F discount) — the pictures are gorgeous, the price is great, and the colors look incredibly pretty and droolworthy (especially the sheer number of colors!!)...but I haven't previously loved Sephora's pressed shadows, I won't use the lip glosses at all, and the cream liners don't have any other coverings so they'd probably dry out quickly. Just looking at the pretty pictures is quite enough for me. (It's sparkleporn. I can just look, I don't have to own.)

If you're looking for recommendations, here's a few more:

  • Buxom Chronicles Four of a Kind — for $28, you get a mini-size of four colors: Dolly (perennial favorite), Katie (shimmery gold-pink), Trixie (shimmering rose-gold, gorgeous), and Violetta (new color). It's a good way to get a Buxom "sampler", and if you only really want one or two of the colors, the others make nice small gifts. At 20% off, this will be about $24.
  • Buxom Lip Stick in San Francisco — actually, any color of these. I love them! One word of advice: at $18 they're costly, and you get less product in one of these lipsticks than you do in even the more expensive drugstore lipsticks: .03 oz for $18, versus .13 oz for $9 (Revlon ColorBurst). However, these buxom lip sticks tend to last longer than the Revlon ColorBurst, and they have more pigmentation.
  • Urban Decay's Naked palette — there's a big notice on the page saying "This product has unusually high demand. Sephora stores and Sephora.com will carry stock as it becomes available." Which means they probably won't have any for the F&F sale, because almost no other retailer has been able to keep these in stock. But - hey - it's worth checking.
  • Urban Decay Primer Potion in a tube, "professional size" — a .85 ounce sqeeze tube of UDPP. No more cutting open the bottle to make sure you can get every last bit of the product! Plus this one's more than double the quantity of the "regular" bottles, so yes it costs nearly 50% more...but you're getting 70% more product, and the applicator doesn't go right back into the product, so less chance for bacteria to gain a foothold. (Plus - those doefoot applicators never really gave me enough control over the application. Funny, I like them fine for my Buxom lip glosses...)
  • Sephora by OPI mini sampler — normally, the OPI minis are not a good value. You're paying more per ounce for the polish. With this little set, though, and the 20% discount, you're paying about the same per-ounce price, and you get six colors. Not too shabby.
