I love true maroon eyeshadows - but for whatever reason or series of reasons, they either come out looking nearly black, or having only a ghost of actual maroon in them once they're applied. This one is a faded maroon, almost a brick red. But it's actually maroon - not dark red, not pale reddish merlot, but actual maroon. I wish the color payoff was a tiny bit better…but, hey, it isn't sheer, and it's easily amped up by applying more heavily or by applying over a red or pink base. (One of the things I don't love about Shiro's shadows is that, for the most part, the shadows aren't vastly different in terms of color payoff between wet and dry application. That difference sometimes means I get twice the effects out of a single pot of color.) Adhesion is excellent, as with all of Shiro's colors I've tried to date.
