The only beauty purchase I've made during the spending ban - which runs through the end of March 2014 - was two separate orders from Beauty from the Earth Cosmetics. I normally would just wait until after the spending ban, but the company is closing on January 31st and I wanted to get my final orders placed. I did, they're on their way, and while I did technically break the spending ban, I'm not sorry that I did. BFTE has some great products, and I'm really going to miss the company and the owner. (Officially, this is a “hiatus for an undetermined amount of time”, but Crystal has said that she's actively looking for a buyer so I don't know if the company will be back, and if it is, how the product quality would hold up. Aromaleigh tried something similar and after buying from the “new” Aromaleigh for just over a year and trying various products I decided that they weren't ever going to get back to Aromaleigh v1 levels of product quality.)

BFTE's impending closure has lead me to concentrate on getting my last BFTE products swatched and out of the “to be done” queue…and I've rediscovered several things that I'd bought, repotted, liked quite a lot, and then forgotten about. Ash is a really beautiful neutral - a pinkish soft white that works very well as a subtler highlighter on women who don't want such harsh edges in their makeup. (Bright whites work, but only with certain color combinations.) Blue Me Over, which was recently the COTW and (as far as I can tell) hasn't been available for purchase before or since, is a lovely midweight blue with understated fuchsia shimmer and overtones. First Kiss blush is another good shade for more refined, subtle blush looks: it isn't too pink, it isn't too dark, some mauve tones but not too deep into “near-bronzer” territory.
