Swatching Meow’s Halloween colors

Please pardon the gaps...

The site is in mid-migration now (manual migration of over 7,000 entries, so there's a lot to be done.) The entry stubs are created for older content, but for the most part, the actual content isn't there quite yet. I am working on it. Unfortunately I have no ETA. But feel free to link to any page! When the content does get populated, the URL will stay the same.

Swatching Meow’s Halloween colors

Today and tomorrow are “site maintenance” days: inputting some entries, switching some dates around, taking some swatch photos, perhaps coming up with a new design (I have ideas of what I want to do, but am not 100% sure how to get it done. It involves lots of pics of makeup swatches/piles, and I can't find the images I want on iStockPhoto…and I'm not the world's greatest photographer, either, so using my own materials is a “last resort”. I have pigments I can safely afford to jettison - mostly samples of this and that - but the photos of them won't be that fantabulous.)

I spent the morning swatching the Dance of Death and Friday the 13th collections from Meow. The 13th collection has more colors that interest me, being duochromes…but both collections have a goodly number of colors that have sooty bases. I don't know if that has anything to do with the metallic finishes, or if the black-base sootiness is included to make the colors more vivid…but I don't like colors that do that. After a few hours, your color is gone leaving behind the soot. If I want a black base for my color, I've got liner pencils, cream shadows, and even gel liners that I can use instead! (On the up side, it made my purchase-decisions a LOT easier.)

I haven't yet swatched the Zombies. I think I may find a few colors in there that I decide to get - at least, they looked more interesting than the Dance of Death collection. There's just a lot of colors in the Zombies, and I can really only comfortably do 13 color-swatches on my arm before I start either running out of space, or having to make the swatches thinner and thinner. Bah, the truth is I'm a little bit slow today: I think I'm coming down with something, and I've been trying to eat high-protein foods, eat “super” foods (lots of spinach and blueberries), and drink liquids (mostly orange, cranberry-raspberry, and cranberry-pomegranite juices) in hopes of fighting this off. I want to get the flu vaccine this year, and I know that I don't want to do that while I'm sick, not even a little tiny bit. So the days have been spent taking it easy, napping when I feel like it, and being extremely glad that the house holds in heat so well. I turn the downstairs-fans to 65 degrees at night, but during the day I'm able to leave the heat off. I'm hoping that next week I won't be too ill, that I'll be well enough to play with the stuff I ordered from TransDesign and the Konad supplies I just ordered from OC Nail Art.
