I haven't made major purchases from the various Astrology collections yet - I've just been perusing the colors, seeing other folks' looks with them, trying to put together my "short list". At a certain point, I will probably place one or two Big Damn Orders...and I'll have the leisure, too, since these collections aren't going away until 2010 at the earliest.

Now that the one third of the sub-collections are out, here are my first thoughts.

Capricorn

The Capricorn eye colors are all browns or mostly-browns - fitting since brown is the color associated with the zodiac sign; but not the most inspiring of collections. I got three colors from this collection in fullsize: December Maybe, Too Much Thought, and Should Be Tempted. I was not thrilled with these three colors - but that could be because they're matte / velvet and softer shades, or because I've got a whole lot of browns already, or some other factor. I've seen some ladies create nice looks with some of the colors, notably Chained Up Heart - so possibly I just didn't get the colors that would best resonate with me. I'm going to have to get this entire collection in sample size, to better pick and choose. Based on what I've seen from others, I think I may end up getting Messy Moon, Stars Say Yes, and possibly January Baby. I did get the Practical Energy blush, and like it very much. Depending on how I like the lip balms (got one coming in the Sitting Pretty on Fifth kit), I may get the lip color Outer Fringe.

Aquarius

Bloooooooo!!! And my own western-zodiac sign. But the names...all fish-based! That put me off making initial purchases, even though some of the colors really look like they'd make nice additions to my collection. Maybe if I do end up getting any I'll rename them. (I know - silly reason for purchasing or not purchasing colors.) I think I may end up ordering a few from this collection. Now I just have to decide which ones :D Based solely on descriptions and what I've seen from others, I'm liking the looks (if not the names) of Fish Out Of Water, Jumpin' Jellyfish, Call Me Fish Girl, and Salmon I Am. I did get Wisp of Bliss blush, and it's very, very light soft pink - almost like a slightly more pigmented version of Rose Radiance. I may add Blush-a-Baby, which sounds like another soft pink (but slightly darker than Wisp of Bliss.) There were no Aquarius lip colors.

Pisces

A nice mixture of sea greens, blues, and purples: all cooler colors, all mid- to light-weight shades. I easily spotted five that looked good to me: Magical Hats, Far Too Free, Living In Motion, Pixie Paradise, and Dazzle Dance. Some other folks have created lovely looks with Circle the Moon and Blazing Angels, so I may closely examine those two when the samples arrive. As if to make up for the lack of Aquarius lip colors, Pisces has seven - from which I'm eyeing Lay One On Me, Pucker Than Peck, and possibly Chaotic Whimsy. There were no Pisces blushes.

Aries

Reds! Lots of reds! Red is just about my favorite color (if I were choosing colors for my own personal sigil, they'd be red, black, and silver), so while I realize that this group may cause a bit of anxiety in others, I'm thrilled. The colors that are too red to be used a lot as eyecolors can easily make good lip or nail colors. I'm initially liking the looks of Take No Prisoners and Morals Out The Window in the lip colors, and Tactical Tyranny, Sweet Inspiration, Intended Bliss, Daredevil Drama, Hopelessly Devoted, Deflated Folly, Beauty Babe, and Cryptic Wisdom from the "eye" colors. There are no "blushes" with this collection (it kind of would have been overkill, even for other lovers of red) but instead there are two glow powders (radiances, in Bare Escentuals' terms): Kissed by Sin, a cool soft pink shimmer; and Delicious Twist, a warm coral shimmer.

There are eight more zodiac sign collections to come out, and I plan to order them all in sample size. We've got Taurus (light blue, pink, lemon yellow), Gemini (yellow, "rainbow"), Cancer (silver and sea green), Leo (gold and orange), Virgo (navy blue and brown), Libra (pink, pale green, lavender), Scorpio (black, red, maroon), and Sagittarius (purple and light blue). All color correspondences were pulled from Wikipedia. Heather's matched up the color-correspondences thus far, so it will be interesting to see these other sets.
