Urban Decay’s Hall of Fame kit

Urban Decay’s Hall of Fame kit contains some of their top-selling products…and some of their not-so-top-selling products. All in all, I don’t think this kit was an astoundlingly bad value, but for me it wasn’t an amazing value. Its chief benefits were to let me try the UDPP and the Skyscraper mascara.

The kit contains:

  • Urban Decay Primer Potion in an extra-large bottle (.55 oz)
  • Eyeliner pencil in Zero (black)
  • mini Midnight Cowboy lipstick
  • mini Pocket Rocket Lip Gloss in Timothy
  • mini Skyscraper mascara

This was the first time I'd tried Urban Decay's Primer Potion. It's okay, good for those days when I don't want a base color or shimmer beneath my eyeshadow. And this applicator was bent, to let me get all of the product out of the bottle.

I had a fairly good idea that I wouldn't be interested in the lip gloss - with the exception of BE's buxoms, I am not a lip gloss kind of gal - so I didn't even try that product out. It will make a nice little giveaway or an extra in someone's holiday card.

The lip stick...well, Midnight Cowboy is a very sheer, almost non-color with few sparkles. I had previously tried Midnight Cowboy eyeshadow, and there was a LOT of glitter in it. I was a bit disappointed to see that this wasn't the case with the lipstick.

The eye pencil is good - not thrilling, and I've tried their eye pencils before, so this wasn't my first experience with them. I would have preferred any color other than black; but I can see why they chose to include a "universal-appeal" color with this kit, rather than a color like Flipside or Covet (which I would have been quite happy to receive; but am not nearly as enamored of buying in fullsize for $18.)

The Skyscraper mascara is good - not amazing, not "wow!!", not horrific, just good. It applies easily, doesn't clump, and is a deep rich shade of black. I prefer the Bare Escentuals' Flawless Definition stuff, but if the Skyscraper came in other colors (navy or brown or brown-black) and were waterproof, I might consider giving it a try.

I'm not sorry that I got this kit, and like I said, I will find a use for the Primer Potion. At $29, this can be a good way to test a wider range of Urban Decay products.
